Olesz

looks like he's tearong up the AHL now...clicking with Pirri...should they call him up? And Pirri? Our vaunted offense not filling the net much in most of our recent games..needs a boost?

No. A few games of little scoring does not warrant that, especially against teams with trapping style game. And besides who would they replace? Back on to ignore you go.

The "vaunted offense" comment was not warranted - the Hawks are the highest scoring team in the league, overall and 5 on 5. Have some perspective please.

Olesz is an interesting case though. I haven't seen him play except the couple games he got early last season and I don't recall him standing out - good or bad. So is he a tweener - better than AHL but not good enough for NHL? Usually tweeners are a tweener because (1) they're too small for NHL, or (2) they don't skate well enough. Olesz doesn't have either of those limitations. So what's the deal with this guy?

Olesz never got a fair chance here and never will.

I seem to recall Rusty had a similar hot streak last year then tailed off. They could bring him up for a look, although given he is likely to be amnestied there is probably not much to be gained from it.

Just to defend the "vaunted offense" comment, our stars and secondary scoring as well had many games where it would struggle to find the back of the net, and that problem occured in the entire series against Phoenix. I don't think they'll have the same problem this year as they seem to be playing much better and something is different. Olesz is not the "answer" to get us back to scoring a lot.

I think that's a bad idea. For starters who are you going to replace for him?

As for our "vaunted offense" we are the highest scoring offense in the NHL, so I don't know what else they have to do to become "vaunted".

He is overpaid and frequently injured. If Rusty made $1.5 mil instead of $3 mil he would be a quality 3rd liner.

Classic OP from classic poster. Would read again. Many times.

As aforementioned this team does have the #1 offense in the league, so I am not sure what more they can do to be "vaunted". Average 80 gazillion more goals a game?

Should have drafted Turris.

Our usual 3rd line center makes 3 + mil ...
Personally when it comes to the playoffs you never know who might get called up and make a difference.
It could be Pirri, Smith, Morin, Hayes or yes even Olesz ... or Beach!!
Both our goalies could get injured and then Karlsson comes up and finds the groove .. ya never know.
I'm feeling pretty good with what we have right now and the potential that awaits down in Rockford.

I have no issue buying him out at the end of the year

overpaid

but he's still with the team this year
if we are paying him why not try him as a 3rd/4th liner

Once the playoffs come, I can definitely see him getting a game or two.
