The Islanders, while playing great these past few weeks, haven't done enough to overcome the past years of failure.
Hope and faith are a funny thing.

What a beautiful day for hockey! Unfortunately, the Flyers have a great track record against us and it's safe to say that we're in for one heck of a battle today. I can definitely see us winning this game, but only if King Tavares wakes up from his heavenly slumber and delivers a grand tavartrick that will be remembered for years to come.

If we win this game, not only we kill the Flyers once and for all but we also GREATLY increase our odds of making a push for that 6th seed

I think most of the posters here have some faith in these guys. Just not sure if the casual fan on Long Island has faith though.

So fired up for the game, I am having trouble concentrating teaching my classes today. My students must think their science teacher is nuts wearing a Tavares jersey in class.

Isles BETTER win this game and put the Flyers away. They have a banged up defense and a rusty goalie in net. Also i believe ottawa is playing tampa. Bishop in his first start against his old team maybe he can help us out.

Love it!!! I have turned a lot of my second graders into isles fans!! They know the stats, schedule, and where we are in the standings!!! When they win they wear their Isles jerseys the next day. Hopefully tomorrow I will see a lot of isles jerseys in class!!!

@StapeNewsday: Moulson back in tonight, likely Lee out. Carkner in for Martinek on D. Nabokov in goal for #Isles.
So if this holds true... that means Lee will have played 2 games, with 8 games remaining. he would have three games left to play before his contract activates with his sixth appearance. So... does he see four out of the final eight with Joensuu back? And does he play in the (hopefully) playoffs...

I'm not tenured yet =[ but my school colors are Islander colors so my Isles golf polo works.

I just need to get through my final two periods.

LETS GO ISLANDERS.

Since I have been teaching in the same school for 36 years and have been there longer than anyone else I can get away with something once in a while.

I remember in second grade, 1973, the Mets were vying for the pennant again a few years after their miracle season. The principal came to school wearing a Tom Seaver jersey, and led the entire school in singing Meet the Mets. Nothing wrong with instilling a little local pride in our schoolkids.

Flyers defence:

44 Kimmo Timonen - 27 Bruno Gervais
38 Oliver Lauridsen - 22 Luke Schenn
23 Kent Huskins - 29 Erik Gustafsson

... on the top pairing.

Not impressed.

A rare Isles' playoff push in April calls for some whacky outfits nowadays.
