Clowe was seeking an 8-year deal on a sign-and-trade?!

I'm surprised Doug Wilson didn't offer 20 years with a NTC.

Garrioch is a joke. We'll see what Clowe is actually worth when the ink dries.

I laughed when I first read that yesterday. Will laugh even more if there is a GM out there that gives it to him.

On topic - I could see Clowe getting 5 years (maybe some team gets desperate and offers him a 6th year). Anything more than a 5 mil AAV would be rough (even 5 mil is a bit on the higher side)

There can of course differs a ton between a) Pittsburgh got a tentative deal for your rights, they will offer you 36m over 8 years, sign now or the trade falls, b) hey Clowe, we intend to trade you, it would be nice to be able to tell 30 teams in the league what it would take to get you off the market. Agent: 18 years 17 billion.

Like what do I know about what Clowe would sign for, but I do know that all kind of factors definitely plays a part in this that makes any number reported more or less irrelevant. If Clowe was asked what it would take to get him signed in a sign & trade or trade & sign, and he definitely didn't want to leave SJ because that is his home and what not, of course he would ask for alot. You know.

I think 5m/per is open market I will sign with anyone, Calgary included, value to be honest. Any team wanting to contend best not pay 5m of a 60m cap to Clowe. 4-4.5m from someone who really likes him, but still got a shot to contend. Just my humble opinon. Fair value around 3m per to be honest.

Speaking as an Oiler fan... yeah I'd give it to him... he is 31 in the fall so would take him right to the end of his career and that is fine since he plays a way I think makes him useful even later in career...

8 yrs $34M I think he would get.. $4.25M average...

$6M $5.5M $5M $4.5M $4M $3M $3M $3M

Agreed. 3.5 AAV would be the best ball park (given over 5 years - 17.5 mil). Some team will overpay for his grit (especially if they feel it's needed). Could see him end up at 4.25 per.

Go ahead Glen, make our day. A multi year deal at more than 5 per would awesome.

No he won't.

He's not getting 5 years from the Rangers.

4 years at 18 million or buh-bye.

bank on it

If they give 4M per on a long term contract to Clowe, who is Rupp from two years ago, it's bound to turn out badly.

The way he's been playing this season (both on the Sharks and the Rangers)? I'd let him walk for anything over 2.5 per.

well, he's in the right place under the right GM right now if he really wants that kind of numbers...

I agree. This guy is a depth 3rd liner. Period. Does he have hart?... you bet. Is he worth top 6 money?... no freakn' way!

I wonder how much productive hockey this guy actually has left in the tank. He plays on that edge where the body breaks down faster compared to other guys. No way I would want my team signing him to anything longer then 4 yrs and it better not be for more then $3M.

I can see CGY giving him a 5-6yr deal @$5.5M per. They seem to like over paying depth players.

This. Any more years or $ would be a mistake.

A mistake I think Sather is going to make. I bet Clowe gets 5 years minimum. I'm not sure I'd even take less money over the term of the deal. He's slowing down now. God knows what he'll look like at 34+.

Any team that gives him 8 years is going to big-time regret it. I think he has a max of three or four years left in this league.
