It was a comedy of errors from the very arrival of the Yotes in Phoenix.

I was so excited about going to my second ever houston aeros game this Saturday, but now that they are moving it doesn't seem excited anymore,Houston is the closest city to me with a hockey team in a Higher Leauge

That claim always gives me a bit of a chuckle. Glendale isn't way away from Phoenix, it's about 10-15 minutes or so, 30 minutes from Tempe or Scottsdale. It is the same city where the football stadium is located.

How many Wild fans drive 30 minutes? Sure Scottsdale or Phoenix would have been better options but the Glendale location should not be used as an excuse.

I grew up in Louisiana as well. Not much hockey related there.

Maybe you can manage a Dallas trip one day

We do have a Minor League Hockey here, they are in the southern professional hockey league ,The Louisiana IceGators came back for the 2009-2010 season, but the attendance has not been the same as it was when they were in the echl

It is only a 5 hour trip to dallas from where i live, have not been to a stars game since 2007,so i am due for one

same here. there are Wild fans that drive 60+ minutes to get into downtown St. Paul on a game night.

I've driven that loop out in the Phoenix area in rush hour. It isn't horrible.

Yup. Right up to the point the owners used the team as collateral for something else. (Funny how leagues don't like things like that )

Though I think the team was eventually/officially sold to another AHL team that needed a permanent franchise 'license'.

Originally Dallas and Edmonton then Anaheim. Then as rafterman said they used the team as collateral on a loan from Wachovia and then they missed affiliation payments with Anaheim which caused Anaheim to terminate their affiliation and then the Stars bought the team and moved them to Cedar Park just outside Austin.

They could do something like Aeros and go for something like Arrowheads.

Would be kind of cool. Des Moines Arrowheads doesn't sound bad, IMO.

Actually, I know quite a few people in the Phoenix area, and they all said that the new stadium location really played a part in them going to less games. Apparently travel to the new rink is slow, and there is apparently nothing else near the rink, so people don't hang out for dinner, and then walk over to the game.

Biggest thing .... it sucks that Houston is going to lose the AHL team, many Houston people have been very good about keep us updated on our Wild propects, and I will miss their postings/blogs.

Yeah, sucks for Houston. And sucks for the fans, too. From the looks of it, they were a devoted bunch and I really wish they get a franchise back one day. Really didn't deserve to lose it.

As much as I would LOVE the team being brought here to Duluth, I have doubts it would be very successful here. I could be wrong though.
