The silver lining is that they did get points even though they aren't playing well. If they can keep their heads above water, make it into the playoffs, then some reinforcements arrive. It's four points they don't have to make up later.

That's the only promising part of the weekend - that they got points. They do battle and never give up. That's been their game all season long. But you can't ignore their total lack of puck possession time. It's practically non existent.

Organizational consistency!

What's your opinion on how Schiestel has been playing? Any signs he's coming around?

I actually think he's been better defensively this year compared to last year. It seems he's simplified his game. Last year, a lot more skating with the puck and trying to create. Also a lot more turn overs. This year, the much simpler, safe play. I think this reflects his almost total lack of offensive production.

Defencemen on the other team must love playing the amerks. There is no forcheck at all.Even on the power play our forwards cannot win a battle, get to loose pucks or keep control of the puck.So many times the defenceman gives the pass to the forward only to have the forward
just throw it away to no one. What should be a a simple dump in many of the forwards actually put the puck on the stick of the opposing defence man which helps in the quick transition back up the ice. Oh yeah once that happens the forward goes for a change and prevent the D from changing and deal with an odd man rush. This team needs to get some forcheck going or maybe the forwards are just too slow to do that??

Regardless of how the team played as a whole, it's great to see Girgs getting on the score sheet and Hackett off to a good start. The Amerks will get help sent down for the playoffs as long as they make it there.

Depending on scheduling, they may not be getting anyone from Buffalo until their 3rd playoff game and it could be too late by then.

It's very important Darcy gets some help by Wednesday. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Are we at the veteran max?

Yes. So bringing in another veteran won't help much. It'll just push out Rissmiller, who was one of their best forwards this weekend.

Amerks rally for shootout win over Albany:
Quote:
The Rochester Americans, led by goaltender Matt Hackett and rookie Zemgus Girgensons, defeated the Albany Devils 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon at the Times Union Center. Trailing 2-0, the Amerks scored twice in the third period to force overtime before ultimately winning in the shootout. With the win, the Amerks improved to 39-27-3-1 on the season and 9-1 in shootouts.

Hackett, who was acquired on Wednesday from Minnesota in a deal that also netted forward Johan Larsson, got his first start as a member of the Amerks and earned first star honors in the win. After turning aside 30 shots in regulation and nine more in overtime, Hackett stopped all three Albany attempts in the shootout to secure his first victory as an Amerk. Girgensons, meanwhile, assisted on Nick Crawford’s third period power-play goal, then scored a shorthanded tally to force overtime. In the shootout, all three Rochester shooters found the back of the net.

I'd like to use the "BREAKING NEWS" intro but ... not appropriate. #Amerks have/will sign D Michael Wilson (latest of ECHL Orlando).

Michael Wilson is 6-1/180. Turned pro in '08-09. Has played 95 AHL games with Worcester (10 this year). 7-27-34 in 57 ECHL games this year.

Lol speechless. The team is desperately lacking a defensively responsible AHL defenseman and they sign a guy from the ECHL.

Cue the posters saying that all Amerks fans do is complain even when we get "help" from Darcy.

This guy sounds like the exact opposite of what we need for our D right now.

When I look at his stats, I see a noticeable gap for last season. Anyone know what happened there?

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p....php?pid=76580

I'm also not sure if I understand the "offensive D" label. He's only eclipsed 10 goals once in his career. Crawford, Schiestel, and Gauthier Leduc all had considerably more points in junior than he did.

He played for 2 teams last year:

2011-12 Starbulls Rosenheim Germany2 15 1 7 8 16 |
Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees CHL 39 1 22 23 18 4 | Playoffs 5 1 3 4 2 -2

Hey man, know your place. You're a lowly minor league fan who has no right to complain.

Uhhhhh, Mike Wilson?! I know its not the same guy, but Mike ****ing Wilson!?

Maybe Darcy thinks that time is cyclical. Just give it time, and Wilson can be traded to Florida for Brett Wehrenner and a 5th. Then we can look forward to the improbable run to the Finals!

No, the Amerks have lost Pysyk, Pardy, McNabb, Finley and Brennan on defense the last few months. This was Darcy's attempt at "helping" the Amerks for their playoff push. An ECHL defenseman. More examples of why you see complaints from Amerks fans.

The Amerks didn't lose them in the last few months, they haven't been on the team since Christmas. What defensemen could Darcy have added to help?

You're telling me there's no team willing to loan a player? Darcy loaned Schiestel to Texas last year for future considerations. How about giving them a call. Beyond that, there's always AHL teams willing to loan players at the deadline.

Brent Regner was loaned to the Wolves today, would that have been an acceptable addition? (honest question)
