This is the exact time to panic. Four losses in a row and the last two against marginal teams. Not scoring a PP goal against a team who are 30th in the league on the PK is cause to panic.

The game against FLA was our opportunity to snap out of this funk.

We lost the dog and his good luck.

I am worried. No panicking quite yet but no matter what happens this year, even if we choke down the stretch, it is a 48 game season with a lot of our top prospects getting valuable playing time. We have seen the development of players like Zbad, Silf, Gryba, Wiercoch, etc...accelerated by a couple of seasons and will make this team better long term.

No one expected us to be here, and this long. Doesn't mean I wouldn't love to get in, but it won't be the end of the world. This team ain't missing the playoff when healthy and now looking at our young guys, I would say we are a contender next year thanks to this crazy year.

We out shot them 40+ to 17. Granted, we weren't generating that many high end chances, but we still had around 21 chances (from the slot) compared to their 6. The only thing that was terrible that game was the PP, it clearly needs work.

People are griping about the top line getting too many minutes, they got 8 scoring chances at ES. That's more than florida's entire team.

So most teams are playing atleast 4 games against teams they are fighting for a playoff spot with and someone has to lose those games. So you are counting on all of those teams doing well and Ottawa doing awful. I'm not sure how they do the math behind the 94% but this is probably one of the reasons why its not that realistic to think Ottawa will miss the playoffs at this point especially with 5 more home games where Ottawa has a 13-3-3 record.
okay....I am not trying to prove the Sens will miss the playoffs, I think they have really good chance to make it just does not look like 94% to me.

Think of it like this, I put in 6$ on missing, you put in 94$ on making it, winner takes 100$.....would you make that bet? I would easily. Now if I have to put in 20$ its a different story.

I was just trying to put some perspective on their playoffs chances by looking at some possible records to finish the season.

The next few games will be huge and a lot fun to watch, not only the Sens games but the others as well. I am all for more entertainment in my favourite sport and by understanding what's at stake that increases my own enjoyment.

p.s. If you actually look at the games you listed (assume only one of Jets/Caps make it a SE division winner, so negate them).

Example....say Sens go 4-6 to finish out, hopefully not, but could happen.

In the head to head games, remaining games and overall record needed for Ottawa to miss......

-TOR goes 1-4, beating Ott, only have to go 2-3 in the other games. (3-7)
-NYR go 2-3 beating TOR twice only have to go 3-2 in their other games. (5-5)
-NYI go 2-0 only have to go 3-4 in their other games (5-4)
-NJD go 4-0, only have to go 2-2-1 in their other games. (6-2-1)

Not so crazy at all really. Obviously the Devils are in tough, but they could even lose a couple of these and still make it providing they clean up elsewhere.

So again lots of hockey to go, with some absolutely huge games coming up, and not only Sens games. Good time to be a Sens fan. 6 wins they are in, 5 wins starting thinking match ups, 4 wins scoreboard watching, 3 wins oh ****, 2 wins who we gonna draft, 1 win fire Maclean, 0 wins blow the whole thing up.

Conacher destroys Bishop tomorrow night and we go undefeated for the rest of the year.

I'm not ready to panic. Last night's game was one where they should have won but did not due to a hot goaltender. Sometimes you are just unlucky.

I'm not panicking at this point.

I mean, they may not make the playoffs. But when Karlsson/Spezza/Michalek/Andy went down, I didn't think we would anyways.

But it would be nice to make the playoffs at this rate after being taunted by wins for so long! lol.

Don't be Vancouver fans.

I'm worried, but considering that when EK65 went down I wrote the season off, Im happy to still be in the top 8. No matter what this season has been valuable. Playoffs or not the Calder line is getting unreal development.

Of course I want some playoff hockey too. Im not panicking yet, need to win some tough games, but you need to do that in May too. Good test for this young team.

the sens are 4 games into the streak already

Only panic if you care about making the playoffs

The Sens are better start showing up for at the games. I find them boring to watch. It seems they are losing most of the battles. I won't even mention the horrible PP.

Those injuries are finally catching up to them...

Couldn't disagree more... This team is extremely fun to watch, considering that they've been missing several stars. Inject Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek and Cowen in the line-up and boom

Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Latendresse-Turris-Alfredsson
Silfverberg-Zibanejad-Conacher
Greening-Smith-Neil
Condra

Methot-Karlsson
Cowen-Gonchar
Phillips-Wiercioch
Benoit

Anderson
Lehner

That line-up is solid top to bottom. Look at that top-4 and top-9

In a losing streak, of course things are more "boring" but we outchanced Panthers 21-6 for CS! 15-14 vs Buffalo, 16-22 vs Boston and 14-16 vs Toronto. Not that terrible in a 4 games losing streak.

Our goalies haven't been solid enough and as usual (since we are without our best 3 scorers from last year), we don't convert our chances enough. Yes injuries "are finally catching up to them" but don't them out yet. They are battlers and won't give up until the end. When we lost Karlsson (as we were already missing Spezza, Cowen and Michalek), I for sure thought the season was over but no, they will be in the fight for a playoffs spot until the end.

We may squeak in but if it were an 82 game season I think our team would have burned out come game 60. Missing the guys we are really shows how good we could be but at this point it seems the team doesn't have a second gear.

What Went Wrong?

5 loses in a row, and we are in danger. Even though the refs handed a loss, and one we outplayed the other team, 5 is still unacceptable.

What went wrong?

Our defence still has mental lapses...as much as I like Gonchar some games for his offence, I have to remind myself why I wouldn't want to bring him back next year due to his defence....Phillips is also degrading at a rapid pace...

Both of our goals tonight were not killer instinct like. Time to bring up DaCosta. He is our only hope.
