- There's speculation a few teams have contacted the Tampa Bay Lightning regarding centre Vincent Lecavalier. The Senators, Devils and Islanders are believed interested.
Spector's Note: I don't doubt inquiries were made, but I doubt Lecavalier will be moved. If he was, I can't see the Devils having interest, given his woeful defensive game and his much-publicized clashes with Bolts head coach John Tortorella. GM Lou Lamoriello wants players who'll buy into his club's system, not potential "problem children".
That shocks me about his attitude, I remember when he came up all anybody would talk about is what a great attitude and character he had. Still as long as we wouldn't have to give up to much I'd take a chance on him.
Maybe a sniff of the SCFs will alter Vince the Prince's attitude? Maybe Pat Burns could do what Tortorella can't?
Acquiring this guy would cost the franchise an arm and a leg in talent. Not to mention the added possibility of Lecavalier's cavalier attitude towards defense. Pun intended.
Even speculating about the players going to Tampa in return would be crazy. I can't see Lecavalier being moved. I can see Torts getting the boot though.
Yeah it's defintely not worth it if it's going to cost an arm and a leg, there's really would be no reason for us to do it at that price, and that being said I doubt they would give him away so I can't imagine this happening.
