Hartnell is looking like the days when people were screaming to trade him......seems Jagr's influence (Hartnell credited him with an improved work ethic) has waned big time.

did you see me mentioning them ? no, not until you want me to compare things to Bryz. well, here you go:

Bryz would have been killed for all of those.

and guess what ? even the 2 breakaway saves didn't get us a win.

that's all many here said: "if we could get just a few breakaway saves ......"

it's NOT the goaltending. goals go in. the Isles looked like they were on a PP when 5v5

this team didn't outwork the opposition AGAIN.

you wanna say Mason was better than Bryz ? I've seen Bryz play some great games, some OK game & a few clunkers.

tonite was on OK game by Mason. people here will lose credibility when they ignore the things above simply because he's 'not Bryz'

like i said: i'll judge them equally: Mason was good. not the reason we lost, but don't overlook & give him a pass for the same exact things you / others kill Bryz for.

again, it's not the goaltending.

I said it before the season, the goalie has to play amazing for the Flyers to win. These defensive lapses have been terrible by the forwards and the d-men this season. Gervais shouldn't even be on the ice and Gus hasn't been great, but he clearly isn't as bad as some say here. This team really misses Carle though he wouldn't be able to help them out much.

Good coaches lose their jobs all the time in the NHL. It's just the way of the business. Hitchcock has coached like 6 teams now in his entire coaching career and most still consider him a great coach.

I don't how a guy with a Stanley Cup win and another finals appearance is a bad coach.
The longer he stays around, the further downhill hosted goes. That's his record.

As for final appearance, whatever, Boston choked epicly.

The GM bears a lot of responsibility for this debacle. As Meltzer noted...it's an ill-assembled team and the injuries have caused the flyers to be an undercarriage with no frame or wheels ...

He's not THE problem but let's face it he's not that good and probably in the bottom fifth of captains in the league.

This team is lacking end to end but this Giroux guy, he's not a leader.

BP1974 nails it.

"If we could only get some big saves, one or two per game" we'd be middle of the pack!

Wrong.

completely agree.

if our goalies don't stand on their head, we don't win.
[with VERY few exceptions {7-0 vs NYI / FLA blowout win come to mind}]

Jagr's influence and inflammed percentages. That was one of the fears no one really wanted to talk about. Voracek is having a great year replacing Jagr on the top line.

The announcers said early in the game the flyers looked sharp... I didn't think they did... they looked a little slow, and they had a lot of passes that were off the mark.

If he is not fired, management is dumber than we think. If he thought team played anything but ****ing awful he is a stunned ****.

I will say one thing, this board does nothing but entertain me when we are in the midst of a bad season or streak.

I also said they need to make sure they are stocked up d-men because chances of them getting injured in Lavy's system are increased compared to the other systems. Homer dropped the ball the last off season.

I guess that cup run doesn't count then.

I think he should go too but I'm not going to take away from the guys past accomplishments. He's still a good coach who's time has run out.

Missed passes, couldn't control the puck, no quality scoring chances aside from Jake's goal ... They were anything but sharp.

Great, than we still amnesty your boy (Bryz) because the GT doesn't mean much.

I'd rather pay a goalie 2.5-3 mill to put in the same performance as Bryz at 5.6 forthe next decade.

Jagr is the one player the Flyers shouldn't have left go. He was one of the best players on controlling the puck and the team really looked up to him. He brought a lot of team chemistry.
