USA Womens IIHF Champions: Kessel: The Amanda version

Wanted to shed some light on Kessel and Women's hockey in General.

Firstly start with Kessel

Lead her college team to a 41-0 perfect season (including championship). Won the 2013 Patty Kazmaier Award (Collegiate National Player of the Year). Scored 101 points in 36 games.

Scored the game winner in last nights IIHF final vs Canada. Was Phil Kessel esq.. thought i was watching him for a second..

She is young and a truly amazing hockey player.

Now on to Women's hockey and your IIHF champs.

There were multiple NHL games on the tube last night, however i chose to tune into the USA v Canada game. What a treat. Firstly a big shout out to Courtney Birchard who scored the first goal for Canada, she oddly enough played on my "all boys" hockey team back in the day. Secondly want to note how competitive and aggressive these girls are. It was an awesome game, and any fan that was able to take it in live probably had a great time.

The girls were nasty and all out talented. To be completely honest as a Canadian i inherently was cheering for Canada, but it really wasnt a contest. Team USA dominated and really showed why the college system is extremely beneficial for developing hockey players. Brianna Decker and Amanda Kessel are prime examples. The Americans were young, fast, and extremely talented. Controlled the pace of the game, forcing the slower Canadians to take dumb penalties.

All in all i just wanted to raise some awareness for Women's hockey. Fantastic hockey game. Should be some fireworks in Sochi.

I appreciate the intent but this thread never had a chance on the NHL talk board (and, truthfully, wasn't on-topic there) so I moved it here with a redirect in case anyone does want to read it.

She was great last night and the difference in the game.

If we want to win in Sochi we will need to neutralize her.

Does Chara have a sister? We need to get the citizenship paperwork started asap.

Was that Bobby Jay as an Asst. Coach for Team USA? Had a very very brief cup of joe with the LA Kings. Back in the mid - 80 s I played softball with him in Burlington, Ma.
