LOL I remember when he was drafted at BC Place.

Looked like he was going to be playing Dungeons and Dragons, not hockey. Dude wore big glasses and had an afro.

Nice kid though, saw him play a lot against the Giants when he was in the WHL.

We should win this game. The flames, while playing for pride, have nothing on us. The Canucks need to bank games like this now. I just hope we can make it out of town without another injury.

I have always wished Irving well. At the age of 8 he was diagnosed with a rare cancer and had to under go 13months of chemo all the while only missing 1 game and 1 practice in his minor hockey days. I couldn't imagine going through something like that at such a young age.

Centers take a while to develop - unless you're talking about a generational talent like Crosby. By the time that prospect has progressed enough - guys like Tanguay will be in the retirement home or close to it.

Omg I just did a google image search, that's a hilarious pic. I'll give him credit, his current headshot is much more presentable.

Minny lost last night, we need to keep putting up points when they fall.

I agree but guys like Tanguay are easily replaced. For a team with basically nothing in the prospect cabinet they're not that badly set up if they get the pick they're looking for this year and make good. Only a couple players away from being on a trajectory, IMO. Would've helped if they hadn't gone full ****** and had just picked Forsberg last year.

Problem is, they're only going to get forwards with "question marks" to sign in Calgary (after all, unless you're willing to overpay, veterans don't normally like to play for re-building teams). Sometimes those "question mark players" are able to resurrect their careers; others just fade away badly.

They (management) didn't have the mandate to "rebuild" at any point last year from ownership - so their hands were pretty much tied.

The canucks have turned a 2 or 4 point deficit into a 4 point lead on the Wild in the last couple of weeks or so. Put up two more points and it will make it really difficult for the Wild to catch them.

Even right now if the Canucks were to go 4-4-1 in the final 9 games, the Wild need to go 6-2-1 to tie the Canucks in points. If the canucks can go 6-3 the Wild essentially need to run the table.

Also humourous to see the Oilers back down in 12th as I look at the standings.

Still glad they made a bit of run to lessen their chances of getting that #1 overall again. How many times can you "reward" that management team in Edmonton?

Enjoying seeing the green block in our last game against 10/14 of the teams in our conference. Really highlights how well we've played of late.

Flames can't even tank properly. The only sensible thing to do after trading away your top players pending a rebuild is to call up your prospects and give them more NHL experience. Their win the other night over Colorado could have cost them Seth Jones, Nate MacMillan or Druin,

Is Luongo hurt? Someone close to a backup just said that said backup will be playing tonight behind Schneider.

He hurt his thumb or something like that in the warmup to the last game. Haven't heard anything about it since really.

It's MacKinnon and Drouin.

But if their prospects are winning right now against the worst team in the league, what does that say about the Avs? Avalanche will probably draft Jones, they already have Duchene, O'Rielly and Stastny. Don't see them drafting another center.

As an aside, if they hadn't had reallignment next year we could have had an impressive list of successive number one picks in our division. Three years Oilers. Maybe Colorado this year. Then 10 years of the Flames.
That's still pretty impressive!
