Will be interesting to see what pairs Babs rolls with.

DeKeyser - Kronwall
Ericsson - Smith
Kindl - Quincey

Looks good to me. Maybe flip Kindl and DD.

So up front we will see:

Z-D-Abby
Nyquist-Mule-Miller
Brunner-Fil-Cleary
Emmerton-Andersson-Tootoo

By the looks of it. I wish Babs would have done something like this sooner.

That second line won't be able to score...wtf is Miller doing there?

How do we know White would have gotten as 2nd round pick? It's what we all wanted for him but I'd rather keep him as injury insurance then get a 3rd or latter pick in return for him.

I got to give him props for trying something different. Although the thought of that 3rd line playing defense makes me cringe.

Based on what other D's got.

Insurance for what? They will be out in 4 or 5 games if they make it because they will play Chicago. And he'll join some other team in the Summer.

Ive always felt that filpulla was better defensively when he is playing center. If he can return to to the player that gives us good safe minutes with some offense, that third line should be okay.

Even if we're not that good I'm at least semi-excited about the roster we're going to ice. Except that Miller should be replaced by Tatar and put on the 4th line(I know I know, we don't have regular call ups left).

You know what they say about what happens when you assume? You make an ass out of you and me, now I'm on the side that would have liked to to move some dead weight at the TD but I'm not overly bothered by not moving anyone. I thought White could have gotten us a 2nd but we don't know what other teams have thought of his value, we also didn't have DeKeyser in the fold, Q is/was still weeks away & CC should be bubble wrapped at all times. You can never have to many NHL caliber Dmen on your team.

I don't think they will light the scoreboard up, but Gus and Mule have looked like our two best forwards the last couple of games.

Brunner is still a non-factor defensively, but Fil and Cleary can both play solid defensive hockey. I like that Babs moved Fil to 3C because it gives us a big matchup advantage over any team in the league with him there. Should've happened a while ago with Helmer out.

I guess he wants 3 threatening lines and the only way to do that is by putting Brunner with Fil. Not a terrible call. Miller isn't useless offensively. He can make good plays. He's more or less a wash there. And I'd rather have him there than Cleary...

Very curious to see how these 3 "scoring" lines pan out.

Babcock did a nice job balancing defensive/offensive abilities on the 2nd and 3rd lines.

Abdelkder continues to play WAY out of position.

I love how Babcock not only doesn't learn lessons -- he defies them.

Abdelkader moves from 4th line to 3rd line with Helm injured last year and proves without a shadow of a doubt that he can't handle it....

So he's moved to a scoring line

****ing moron

There's really, not very many other players to put there unless Tatar gets called up, especially if you're trying to balance the lines a little. If you take Brunner and put him up there the third line just becomes a non issue. Datsyuk could barely carry Cleary/Abby. Filppula is going to just die with them.

Abby obviously sucks at that role, but he's the least sucky option if you want to roll with three offensively threatening lines. And as long as Datsyuk has a guy like Zetterberg to play with it's not a total waste like it was before.

(It should be clear that they should just call up Tatar full time. What the hell are they waiting for?)

Jordin Tootoo would be better on Datsyuk's line that Abdelkader

On the positive side, the three-day rest helps Zetterberg.
On the negative side, the Sharks have a day of rest instead of back-to-backs + travel

I'm not so sure about that myself, but whatever difference there might be between the two, it's certainly not enough to make a fuss about. Neither's worth much outside of hitting and grinding, and to be honest, I would personally pick Abby over Tootoo as well.

Call me crazy if you like.

The league to change its rules regarding call-ups after the trade deadline probably.

He's not eligible to be called up until the playoffs unless its an emergency call-up.

If I understand things correctly they removed that rule with the new CBA.

Tootoo makes defensemen nervous. He makes them rush.

He also has better hands and playmaking ability.

And, if someone lays a hand on Datsyuk, Tootoo would take 5 whether Coach Cliche wanted him to or not.

Like Abdelkader, Tootoo's game would not translate well to a scoring line with Pavel Datsyuk. Right now he has the ability to forecheck and run around, with Datsyuk, he can't do that.
