Kelsey Tessier

Anyone know anything about this kid? I've heard he's from Moncton and he is apparently quite good.

The Remparts chose him in the 4th round, but I heard he was not planning on reporting to the Q. Who knows with the Remparts though....

I don't know if this is necessarily the case for Tessier, but people manipulating the draft in the CHL really frustruates me. I think it reduces the overall strength of the leagues.

The Remparts have it down to a science...

It certainly seems that way.

To be honest, Tessier being in the QMJHL wasn't even the first thing I noticed. Tessier showing up on the Remparts scoresheet that made me suspicious. Not specifically that he was playing in the Q.

If he was playing for Rouyn-Noranda or Baie-Comeau or something, I probably wouldn't even have thought of the "draft fudging" thing in the first place.

I comletely agree. Last year it was the same thing with Espo, and in the Priority Selection(OHL) this year, I believe Phil McRae said that he would only play for London, and was picked at #20, despite being ranked in the top 10. It also looks like another top American 1990-born, Mike Cichy, will go to the CHL. Cichy was going NCAA, and was selected by the Mooseheads in the 3rd round, but is probably going there anyway, after playing one year with the NTDP. Of course, no contracts has been signed yet, so who knows really.

I don't know how true it is, but I've been hearing about kids from Quebec that want to play in English speaking cities for whatever reason. Cam up in talks about both Sauve and Amyot in Saint John. I hope we po'd Roy with the Amyot pick.

Quebec City is unquestionably French-dominated, although there are many, many English speakers in the city. But it's no Bathurst or Gatineau when it comes to bilingualism, IMO.

They do have a good track record with American players though, so that could contribute with anglophones wanting to play there.
