Ive just seen the guy whos going to be 10 years from now hes going to be talked about as the best player in this draft. A bit later on, Weisbrod himself said, Hes Joe Nieuwendyk.

I strongly believe that this kid will turn out even better than Tyler Seguin. What do you guys think?

Seguin is quietly having a horrible season for his standards, and he is incapable of playing center. I think that ship has sailed for him, but he should turn out as a remarkable winger.

Gally only 6 pts back.

Galchenyuk 20 points
Eller 21 points
Desharnais 21 points
Gionta 22 points

Not bad for an 18-19 year old with no pp time.

Seguin is a one-way sniping winger. Not a good defender but not a liability. Galchenyuk is the kind of player that controls a game, a 200ft player/#1C. Not to say Seguin is chopped liver, the guy is a fantastic player, but Galchenyuk is so much more well rounded.

There was a feeling out process for him in the NHL for sure. Gotta think he's only played against teenagers and missed an entire year. He was used to being the best player on the ice everytime he was out there and in the NHL there's always someone at least as good as you (for the most part)

Now that he's got the feel for the speed, and is starting to believe in his abilities to take over games it's only going to get good. The thread name about flashes is going to turn into consistency I think!

I don't watch much of Seguin(I do like watching Seguin), but he isn't a deadly deker as Galchenyuk is. That is not to say Seguin isn't deadly, just that Galchenyuk really has the potential to kill teams in 1 million ways while Seguin has only 10000 ways.

Seguin has good hands too, he just relies a lot more on his skating than anything

Agreed. Seguin is all speed and a great shot, but he isn't a stickhandler. Galchenyuk has all the tools at his disposal.

He still need to work on getting bigger and stronger and if he want to become a full time center he has to get better on the faceoff circle.

Well obviously Galchenyuk needs to meet his potential but in terms of his skillset he's extremely balanced. It's just a matter of using said skills.

I've watched some Lemieux highlights today, and I truly believe some of those moves he pulled off Galchenyuk can do something similar too. Hell, Galchenyuk already did great deke on that Winnipeg defender between his legs, but didn't score to make it to the highlight reels.

I am drinking the Kool-Aid with regards to Galchenyuk.

He's only 19. He's still got a lot of growing to do. When he's 24, he's gonna be an ELITE center if everything goes right.

I really like Tyler Seguin, but yes I agree. Galchenyuk has virtually unlimited upside. Best forward prospect for Montreal since 1971.

Kadri does look like an all-star so far this year, pretty mild statement comming from an opposing fan. If he said that about McKegg or Biggs...

Yeah I agree he looks pretty good this year but he made it sound like we had nothing coming up that could be as good as him.

As good as he has looked at times this year, the thing I love about him is his work ethic. That was the one thing the Habs loved about him even more than his physical skills.

His hands and vision are top notch and he has a laser wrist shot that he needs to fine tune a bit, once he fills out to 210-215lbs and polishes up his overall game in the next 2-3 years he has 90 point upside with 70 points being a conservative number. He should be a fixture on the halfboards(right side) on the PP for many years with his passing and shot. Once all is said and done he may not be the top player from the 2012 draft but he will be close to that player if it isn't him. Lots of upside and not a lot of downside.

We can only hope Galchenyuk becomes as good as Kadri some day.

Just read on the Leafs board that Phaneuf deserves Norris consideration but Subban is just a really good PP defenseman and nothing more... don't worry, it happens.

Staying on topic, Galchenyuk has been looking unbelievable the last couple of games. When those lasers start hitting the net, man, look out.

What I'm really impress about him, other than his elite skills, is that he almost didn't play at all last year and played 80+ games this season in the OHL, WJU20 and NHL and is still strong and not looking out of place.... that tells a lot about his conditionning...

Got to love the future with such a supreme talent mixed with supreme work ethics.

to me, his game seemed to change when they had him play center for 1 game. His confidence shot up, his skating was incredible, and he was playing a full rink game. It has carried over since then. I love how he rushes back to play d. The kid is a gamer and what is nice for him is that HABSFANS will let him know how much they appreciate his effort [and how much they dislike his play if he doesnt keep pushing]

I wish I could have seen more of other young players in their first year where they struggled. Players like Stamkos who really struggled their first year, then exploded in year two or Tavarres who has slowly and steadily improved. Or Seguin and Hall.

It'd be a good way to try make a comparison and judge what path might take. Watching games live, you learn so much more about players than watching it on TV. You can see what they do behind the play and see their tendencies a lot more.
