Yeah..no reason to be a lower bowl STH imo. And you can bet rows 3-14 pricing will be broken into rows 3-6, 7-10 and 11-14 price points in the future when they need to boost MSG earnings to please shareholders and analysts. Worst thing for STHs was when MSG went IPO.

I'm waiting for the seat licenses.

That step will only be accomplished when there is a waiting list for tickets. A seat license assures that the season ticket will be sold no matter how much the tix cost.

Don't think that would ever fly. BIG difference between football and hockey in this market. I'm willing to bet if the Rangers thought there was any chance they could, they would sell the PSLs.

The tickets are so overpriced, that unless you are planning to go to every game, or have some people who will buy from you for face, you are going to lose money. The upper bowl is a MUCH better value. Better view, imo, but that is a different argument.

A woman who sits 3 rows in front of me just received an email saying her play-off tickets have been canceled. They had been calling her for the money and she asked for an extension, which they always did in the past. Denied. Did I mention she has had her seats for over 30 years?

Not really surprising. She should have borrowed the money from someone if she was short...or taken out a loan, or an advance on her credit card. Playoff tickets are not an inalienable right. It's a luxury, and if you can't afford it the Rangers are going to sell them to someone who can.

she can afford it, that is not the issue. In the past she didnt pay until they clinched and it was never a problem. They haven't clinched, are not even comfortably IN a play-off position. No reason why they have to pull them now. They said they are going to be sold to the general public, I haven't seen anything about a public on-sale.

And, they have always given an extension. I asked for and received one several times over the 15 years I have had my tickets without a problem.

It's not surprising. I think if this wasn't a lockout shortened season they would've given her an extension. I could be wrong and either way it's a sucky situation.

I think it is a scare-tactic. I told her that I bet if she called and agreed to pay, she would get them back. Still have 2 1/2 weeks left in the regular season, no reason why she couldn't get the extension.

What does she need an extension for? She could have simply purchased the playoff tickets and gone with the pay by round option...they would have dinged her for the first 4 games and she'd likely have 5-6 weeks to make the credit card payment. Furthermore, she could request a refund for unused games and she wouldn't even have to make the credit card payment if they miss the playoffs. What am I missing here?

you're missing that shes been a STH for 30 years. has been extended the courtesy year, after year, after year. many other STH, myself included have been extended this courtesy as well.

its disgusting and it isn't right to treat someone who has been a loyal STH for thirty years like that, ESPECIALLY after the lockout that took place this winter

1) she pays by debit card, so the cash comes right out of her account and would have to wait for the refund. 2) she doesnt want to pay until they clinch, and after 30+years, she should be granted that courtesy. I remember around 2002, they kept calling me and I kept putting them off for over a month. Finally, they called me again with about 3 games left. Think they needed to win all 3 games and have whoever they were chasing only get 1 point the rest of the way. I actually laughed at the guy. I asked him why he was bothering considering he would be giving me a refund a few days later. He actually said they are just reaching out to everyone.

The Rangers can't sell seat licenses.... as of now.

They need a large waiting list before they will move in that direction.

They also have the option to sell licenses for center ice only charging a somewhat lower price for the seats in exchange for an up front fee.

In any case, nothing will happen until the demand is much higher than now. Imagine what a cup or two might do for demand? Aw...It's only a dream.

Problem resolved. She called, reminded them she has money on account from sales on ticketsnow and said she would cancel her seats for next season. Their tune changed and she was given her extension.

I'm guessing they are once again expecting very high renewal rates despite the annual price increase?

you might want to specify which one, but in the tickets for sale thread.

I would think yes, BUT as soon as she said she would not renew, they changed their tune. They are getting bombarded with complaints from season ticket holders. They might be worried, but I don't think they are too worried. 1) I don't think they believe people will cancel and 2) I think they know if an upper bowl subscriber cancels, they will have the tickets sold in less than an hour.

They haven't sent out anything to STH about a pre-sale for the playoffs yet right?

Not that I know of, but I didn't request to purchase extra tickets.

I requested extra playoff seats but haven't heard anything back yet, we should be hearing something maybe by the end of the week I would think.

Last year the Rangers waited until almost the last minute to issue the extra seats so I would expect sometime next week.

I don't think you have to request for the pre-sale. Pretty sure they send the email blast out with the password that everyone and their mother knows.
