Anyone thinks that Samsonov could break out this year !?

just like afinogenov did with sabres last year , something like 25 goals and 55 assists !? Samsonov prove that he have the skills in the past and I think a new team just can be good , with kovalev and ribeiro im sure we got 2 first line with higs-koivu-ryder

I expect him to get 28 goals, 40 assists. Is it a breakout year or not?

Seriously...Samsonov was used on a 3rd line-VERY sparingly in playoffs. He is a TREMENDOUS talent, but I think injuries have taken its toll. He plays FAR too timid out there to be as effective as he can be. Hell, I think he was the only Oiler not to throw a bodycheck in last years playoffs.

If he couldn't "break out" with Joe Thornton, why would he break out with Mike Ribeiro?

I think he's already broken out though.

he didn't play with thornton, glenn murray, mike knuble and bill guerin did. samsonov always played with different centers like nylander and rolston.

Hell ya. His face has been clear for years and he's still young. I see some acne on the horizon...
Are you suppose to be funny? Borderline trolling maybe you should head over to B's land.

As for breaking out, I don't know. But 25 goals and 50 assists are not out of the question. Everything depends on how he clicks with Kovy and whomever centers his line.

he's already got 75 points or so in a season. I don't expect more than than, but something between 60-75 points would be ok I guess....

Ribeiro is stonger , Ribeiro is faster ...

Not that much, Afinogenov will be 27 next week while Samsonov is 28...

To be fair, last night this thread was started on the main NHL board (which is where I first noticed it), and I guess got moved at one point to our board.

Come on, give it a rest. At least this was funny and hardly trolling at all.

Couldn't have put it better.
Semsonov needs to pay with a star to be a star.
He's not the type of player that's going to make his linemates better.

All depends if Sammy can click with some of his teammates. If he and Kovalev, for example, find some chemistry early on, I could definately see him topping 70 points this season. If he ends up swithcing linemates on a regular basis he might not get much more than 50 (all predictions based on him playing 80 or so games).

He had 9 hits, according to NHL.com. The only player with less who played as many games was Horcoff.

What do you mean NHL.com doesn't count the hits? If you're trying to tell me that the website didn't watch the games and mark one down every time someone got hit, well I guess you're right. NHL.com does publish the hitcounts done by the various stats guys throughout all the arenas in the NHL.

Dvorak had one more hit in 8 less games.

I ran the playoffs report and there was no hits stats. It's fice you find it tho. I heard the guys that count the hits in Montreal are very generous and thats why Bégin Bouillon and Komi were in the top25 last season.

It's just nice to have a decent LW for once if he gets Kovalev numbers I'll be happy.

But to answer the question he's pretty much broken out already, 0.7 ppg thats basicly is par for the next few years.
