It's a pipe dream that he hits UFA, and it's another pipe dream that he would sign with the Isles.

Let's say the Devils can't pay him for whatever reason...

There is no way Clarkson will stick it to the boss who game him a break by signing with NYI. I really don't see it.

I don't really see where Clarkson would fit in. Right now I really like the chemistry of this team and 4 or 5 AHL guys fighting for what I see is 3 open forward spots next season. i don't expect Garf to sign any UFA forwards this offseason

I think he would fit in nicely where Boyes is playing, but that's just me.

I don't like the idea of guaranteeing all 3 open spots to prospects. I think we need to acquire at least one top 6 forward. If he ends up being supplanted by a prospect down the line, so be it.

Me neither, but they did let Parise hit UFA, so anything could happen.

Clarkson will have a lot of choices and a lot of money thrown his way, so there's really no reason to sign an extension right now. Not sure the Isles will be in on him when they have Strome and others as a possibility.

Clarkson is a different player compared to Strome. If they are planning on putting Strome on a line with JT, Matty Ice better not be on the left wing. The biggest problem with the first line is that JT is left with digging the puck out of the corners and battling along the boards instead of getting in position to make plays. Clarkson would help that line out tremendously.

I agree they are different players.
I think if he hits the market we would have a chance. it just depends on what he is looking for $ wise

Is Nino a possible winger for JT next year?

The first line desperately needs a physical presence.

If we finish strong this year and I don't mean just making the playoffs......but if we hit the second round......we should NOT have a difficult time signing the players we want to sign, expecially since we are moving to a new arena in 2 seasons.

I wouldn't be surprised, if the isles didn't try to find Tavares winger from among their own youngsters.

If we don't sign or re-sign anyone, yes.

IDK that Garth is looking to FA or within to find a top 6 RW for JT but if they are willing to spend some $, I am staring to come around to the idea of Nathan Horton...Hes big,RHS, and has only been a minus player once in his career... I think with Johnny Horton hits 30+ goals while adding a physical pressence to the 1st line...

An under the radar and a bit cheaper option is Damian Brunner...Hes extreamly skilled, fast, and has some shot on him...does not have much size hough

Strome has been playing very well in his first few games in BPORT..If he's ready for the NHL next year remains to be seen. I do think eventually he is the logical choice to play with Johnny...

I just like the Idea of have a 6'2+ physical winger with skill play with Johnny as well...Moulson is not that..

If Nino pans out and uses his body a future first line of Nino-Tavares-Strome would be nice

I think you are right. I dont see them with 2 1st rounders playing RW in BP why they would sign someone before giving one or both an opportunity. My guess is its Strome. Nino may have played/whined his way out in the offseason, or at least an extended stay in BP.

A ufa goalie coming off the market:

I think we will bring in 1 forward capable of scoring and let Capuano figure out who plays where in camp.

As of now we have...
Moulson-JT-xxxxx
Bailey-Nielsen-Okposo
Grabner-xxxxx-xxxxx
Martin-Cizikas-McDonald

I think the team will want to run with three scoring lines since the second line doubles as our shut down line. That means three spots for 1-2 free agents and 1-2 for the rookies (Strome, Nino, Lee, Nelson).

I think Nelson will be the 3C and I expect Joensuu, Lee, and Nino to compete for that other spot on the third line.

I would love for them to sign Boyd Gordon who forechecks well and is phenomenal on faceoffs, with a right handed shot.

Nino other then scoring goals in Bport this year has often played extremely soft, he has turtled, shyed from contact in the corners and has not looked superior on corner battles........This is just my opinion......More opinion I would not be surprised if Nino is not even with the franchise next season let alone JT`s winger........

I'd rather see Joensuu given a few shifts with JT.

I really dont think they are going to bring in much. Garth is going to stick to his guns and go with his guys. I think if Boyes is reasonable, he will be signed back for next year, and give the prospects another year. My guess is you will see some moving into the lineup through the year. Its possible Strome starts the year in BP with Nelson next year. Dont be surprised if you see an almost identical line up iced up front as now.

With the way the organization is moving forward this year, halting momentum in that way would be a huge mistake.
