Calm down, if you truly thought they should've made it in this year you may be a little delusional, they are however progressing upwards in points at a respectable rate.
That projection mean nothing. The Oilers were in the playoff hunt roughly 25 games into Taylor Hall's rookie season and we all know how that turned out. The team's overall performance and statistics don't lie: This is still a bottom five team over the course of a full NHL season.

Do you really see them outsucking any of the current bottom 5 teams this year?

And since we're talking about full/half seasons... Would the Leafs/Isles be in a playoff spot if this were a "full" season?

Fact of the matter is, a season is a season no matter how many games are played.

LMFH had the best comment regarding this train of thought.

"And for the record...bouncing up 3 or 4 spots from the very bottom because some of your draft picks aren't 18 years old anymore is not progress."

that's sad

don't worry, next year we get to compete with LA, Anaheim, Vancouver, and SJ to sneak into the playoffs
You mean we're not competing against them this year to get into the playoffs?

Well, I guess we could trade them away and call that progress... Or the Mike Milbury method of GMing.

Still kids, lets not forget the snake bite the team had and that darn puck luck. Can't wait for next season.

Spector mentioned the "longest playoff drought as soon as the Leafs' break theirs" reality in his column this morning. The organization is going to have something else hanging over their head momentarily and you better believe that this will be mentioned constantly next year.
