Habs invite Joanisse and St. Denis

The rookie camp is next week and so far it's confirmed that they have invited two teammates of Latendresse (Joanisse is a former teammate of Lats and a recent teammate of Carle & Dulac)

http://www.expressparole.com/article...ues-du-CH.html

Thanks to Marc for digging up the link. Frederic St. Denis is a smallish offensively gifted LD and Andre Joanisse is a solid stay at home, big, physical RD. I hope more guys are invited but I like both St. Denis and Joanisse, good luck to both of them and I hope to see them earn a contract.

I love inviting guys to rookie camp; it gives more meaning to the entire thing because you have guys who are hungry for a contract and it just elevates the level everyone's performing at... hope these guys give it a good run.

id like to see the habs invite mathiue roy, cant believe he wasnt drafted or signed already. and hes french canadian too, that should be a plus for the habs.....also, they should take a look at justin azavedo from the kitchener rangers and dman scott aarsen from the knights. both are solid. azavedo is only 5'8 at the most, but probly also 5 feet wide too, hes a monster who can put up lots of points in the ohl and has also proven it internationally too with the u-18s.

Roy is at the Caps camp and I beleive Azavedo has been invited to a camp but I'd have to double check. Don't think Aarsen has been invited to any camps that I know of. There's a good thread over on the prospects board about who's invited to camps.

Edit. Azavedo was invited to the Thrashers camp.

Yeah, I've seen Azevedo twice this year...but he impressed me more in last year's wjc's...

He's small, fast...and has good overall skills. We should have invited him. It's a shame that he went undrafted...

They also invited Eric Neilson. I don't have a link, but it was on the front page of the Fredericton news paper the other day.

Not surprising, our new Q scout Boucher drafted Neilson after-all...

More of a energy guy. He fights but he's not a heavyweight goon per se. More of a 4rth liner with guts who'll drop the mits when called upon

My understanding is that he was invited to the Oilers' camp this time around.

I wouldn't know why we didn't invite him... or if we did, he may have decided he had more chances with the Oilers.. they are very thin on defense.

Exactly...he is also a hard worker. He sets a good example the rest of the team should follow in the work-ethic department.

I liked Neilson a lot when he was in Rimouski. He was fighting with the best heavyweights of the league and they beat them all, except when he was 20 because he had a "mononucleose". I remember in 2004 at the last game of the season, he had a fight with Jonathan Tremblay of the Acadie-Bathurst Titans for the title of the best fighter of the Q. I have a video of this somewhere but no place to upload it...

Or, at a 6-year minor league investment of $300,000 total, added incentive to convince Sidney to jump to the Habs when the day comes?

Anybody think that Neilson has a good shot at becoming our 14th forward?

We had Ivanans as our 14th forward to start last season... Gainey seems to sense a need for a goon on the squad and Downey is more of a gritty forward than a goon.

I dunno!
