I would love to get barkov, Lindholm, or monahan, in that order.

I really don't care who we draft as they should be pretty highly rated, unless Poile goes off the board, but I do hope it's a forward. We've got our top three defense positions locked and we've still got plenty of prospects/young players to solidify that last spot in the top 4. Unless Jones falls to us I don't see us picking a defenseman. Forwards on the other hand are looking better, but we're still pretty shallow there.

Jonathan Drouin so we can have a playmaker to go with the sniper that will be Forsberg.

Mackinnon may be unable to be obtained, ditto Jones, barring a lottery win. Outside of those two, Poile (in my armchair GM opinion) should do whatever it takes to get the player they want. This will likely be the Highest we draft for a long long time.

This,

I've been thinking Blum gets dealt at draft to love us up. I would LOVE to get mackinnon.

Some people are saying they like jones and nurse, would you really want us to waste such a high pick on defense?!

I kind of have a hunch we will get Lindholm, he will slip to us, just like aberg slipped to us and FF slipped last year. We will be rocking the all Swedish draft slipping line!!! I bet they all know each other as well fairly well, could be good idea....

Insane question ... say we finish 26th & win the draft lottery, do we trade down a spot and grab a second on the way down ?

Crazy how low Monahan is going in some mock drafts. Should be nice pickup for whatever team gets him.

As for the Preds. I'm betting on Barkov or Drouin. High ceiling, high skill level is what Poile should be aiming for.

I wouldn't mnd it. Drop a couple of spots still get one of those dynamic forwards and walk away with a high 2nd rd pick.

I think we need to grab another top 50 pick this year, and it'd be the perfect opportunity to do so. I wonder what the odds are again.

I would be all over trading down 1 or 2 spots if we win the lottery. Colorado, Florida, and Calgary all need stud defenseman. Could be quite the bidding war and we would still get MacKinnon, Drouin, or Barkov.

Here's the lottery odds

EDIT: Judging the projections via sportsclubstats, the magic number to get a top 10 pick is 48 pts max... Out of 52 pts.

48 pts = 54-67% chance of 9th place. and a 6% chance of a team below Nashville knowing them down to 10th

So right now we have about a 5% chance at getting no.1. Not likely going to happen, but we can wish. My guess is we'll pick at no.6 this year. We've picked at no.6 three times in our history.

Hypothetically, we win the lottery. DP will draft Jones. Would you trade that pick to 2 or 3, and receive extra picks (1rst or 2nd round)?

I wrote the primer referenced earlier in the thread. I think there are a few "Predator" players in the top six or seven-- Drouin(ideally, though I think he goes second overall, personally), Barkov, Monahan, Lindholm.

However, I think if the Predators pick first, there's no way they don't take Jones, no matter how much we may not want them to. Outside of Ekholm, the defensive cupboard is pretty bare, in terms of top four talent.

In fact, I think that if the Preds pick anywhere below 5, they take a defenseman, be it Nurse, Pulock, Ristolainen, or Hagg. After the first 5 forwards, the draft shifts to being D-heavy from about the 7 mark up to the 20 mark.

I've heard that Columbus has 3 - 1st round picks. Maybe they would trade them for an early pick and Blum.

There's no incentive to do that for Columbus. Blum doesn't have that kind of value at this point. He's coming up on 6 years since being drafted and still isn't a steady NHLer.

Thomas Hickey is a better player to this point and was on waivers earlier this year, if that tells you anything. Same draft class, but went fourth overall.

We better not take a defenseman with our high pick. Poile is amazing at drafting defensemen in second - fourth round so just stick to that. If we can make a move and get another first to get a dman they may want then I am all for it, but we better come out of this draft with either mackinnon, drouin, barkov, lindholm, or monahan. I will be insane excited if we do that, and I don't care which one, but ONE of those guys. That's five guys, throw jones in there and that's the top six picks, so I am praying for a top six pick, and than it will most certainly happen!! *fingers crossed*

I think those five are cant miss snipers.

Someone who can skate into the zone and create a play with skill. A leader who can stand up for himself and not let other teamates get pushed around. A franchise player on offense with the professionalism of Peks. Don't care what his name is or where "experts" have him getting drafted.
