He was actually drafted in the second round of the WHL draft by Portland.
Not a surprise he'd go the college route, same as his brother. I wonder if he'll jump to the BCHL like some other MJHLers have done prior to going to college/university.

Actually I think it's a lot more common to jump to USHL for MJHLers...Peter Stoykewch, Jason Kasdorf, Jason Gregoire, etc, etc have all gone to USHL...

I agree, that is a very prominent route, and perhaps moreso in recent years. About 5-10 years ago, it seemed to be more of a BCHL route, such as used by Travis Zajac, or more recently by Brendan O'Donnell (Peter Stoykewych's teammate).

a little of topic but with all the kids signing in manchster would our lineup look something like this??
pearson-vey-kozun
merch-shore-andreoff
kitsyn-porks-weal
not sure about the 4th line
forbort-deslaurier
gravel-campbell
roach-?
thats a lot of talent, size, and skill, the question is how will they play together for the first time..
not when or if maxim and porks have contracts with the khl?

Take a look at the CHL/college prospects thread (I put a breakdown of what I thought in there) or Manchester thread for this.

Kitsyn has his contract in KHL expire this season and Prokhorkin has at least 2 more years on his deal in KHL, I believe.

Kitsyn's free but Porky is still a couple of years away. You are right.

As I can JB will get traded for a first pick. Depending on how far comrie drops I have a Feeling DL will draft a C aka Curtis Lazar. He's got DL written all over him.

My guess:
C
G
D
D
LW/RW

If DL goes to the WHL for a goalie, my money is on Tristan Jarry.

"Laser" would be my pick too but Bernier won't fetch a first rounder that high to get him.

I would love Hagg.

When do we feel we should draft a goaltender?

I'm guessing it will be in rounds 4-6, similar to Berube and Rowatt.

Not sure Hagg will be available in the 2nd round 45-60 range. Probably looking at Mitchell Wheaton but I would move up for Madison Bowey. There are so many good D prospects this year.

I have Hagg around 25-35, so you're likely right. That said, odds are if we deal Bernier at the draft, it has a good chance to involve draft pick(s) of some sort, so we may end up with a pick in that range.

I would go for Bigras, Bowey, or McCoshen.

Supposedly Hakan Andersson (Red Wings chief European scout for those who don't know) really likes him. I like Hagg too, he has the size, the skating, the skills, isn't afraid to play in the dirty areas, and the best thing about him is he's really smart with his decision making. To me, the only question with Hagg is whether he will end up just as a serviceable defenseman or something more than that, he has all the tools but he needs to assert himself a bit more.

Agreed.

What made him standout for me was the WJC. Now I hate it when scouts and GM's place way to much value on the WJC for draft eligible players, because it's not a fair playing field IMO, but in Hagg's situation I think that was his coming out party. Sweden seemed doomed to be an after thought at the WJC when they lost three of their D-men, but Hagg came in and was a rock. Arguably was Sweden's top defenseman and only got better as the game went on.

I think, if he pans out and reaches the NHL, his low end is a Jordan Leopold with better grit. His top end though is very high.

Markus Soberg, a Norwegian winger. 5'11, 187 pounds. Could be a great pick in the long run. He is also a 95 born.

Is there a reason that we don't draft players playing in Sweden and Finland?

Generally speaking, we like our forwards to be bigger.

Yes, but he is talking about an 18 year old. They could easily grow 2-5 in and once adding muscle mass could get 20-30 lbs.
