We clinched at Game 77 in 2008, so nope. The East was VERY tightly bunched that year.

It was Easter Monday, a crazy high scoring game against Ottawa.

If this could work.....i dont know defensively, but offensively it would be the most dangerous offensive defence in the whole NHL and probably one of the best PP too!!
I fully agreed. Our strength was the offense from the defencemen.

HAbs have finally solved the "Ott" mystery. Kudos to Bouillon to have kicked his sorry ass.

I'm very happy to say that I was completely wrong about this team. A playoff spot? Maybe. But competing for 1st in the East? No way did I think this was possible. Just an awesome story this whole year.

For the first time since the Roy years I think we have a REAL shot at a cup this year. Even if we lose in the first round though it won't matter... we are at the start of a long run of competitive hockey.

Feels good to not talk about rebuilding anymore.
I told ya wanting to tank before even playing one single game is stupid.

We must thank Zherdev and whatever other failed Russians that made Howson sour on them, even though Galchenyuk is technically an American.

You can also thank the Brandon Saad led Saginaw Spirit for eliminating the Sting in 6 games of round 1 last year, keeping Galchenyuk under wraps.

REBUILDING IS DONE!

Let Calgary worry about it now.

Eesh...

Some of you guys should learn to respect people who come into these threads. AFAIK, the Sabres fan didn't crap on any members of the Habs forum, the team, the coaches, or the players. No excuses were used either.

Don't see why it's mostly impossible for you guys to address the guy in a way that wouldn't make you seem like sore winners.

I'm a Hab fan but a lot of you are acting like Bruins fans. Yes, I sincerely mean that. The team you favor winning a game isn't a license to act like a penis. It's just a game. Lighten up and enjoy the fact that we clinched a Playoffs spot.

GO HABS GO!

It's funny: for some reason, I was totally confident that Chuckie would fall to us on draft day. I don't why... I guess he just looked like a Hab to me

What an amazing season this has been!! At Christmas, I had given up on there ever being a season and resigned myself to having to endure CBA conversations all Spring and Summer (puke). Now it's April, we've not only clinched, but are fighting for the division and we have potential Norris, Calder and Jack Adams winners!!

Couldn't be happier! Especially since there won't be another Tanking thread for at least another season or 2

HABS, BABY!!!!!

POWER CLINCH!!
So true. It's probably better for him though, less pressure. Kid will be a star.

Subban is soo good. Dude is a sponge. Our defense will be incredible for a long time!

Subban will be well deserving of whatever money he will make in the future. BUT the way PK has developed this season I really do think has a lot to do with the presence of Markov. In particular, PK's passing game and spacial awareness is so much better, and that's exactly Markov's strong suit. It's a credit to both players - Markov for being exceptionally talented and PK for realizing that and learning from it. Add that to PK's competitiveness, physicality, and skating abilities and he's tough to match.

Things look bright my friends. Complete domination from the puck drop til the buzzer. Everybody was on point tonight; all three rookies, our Norris Trophy calibre D, Frankie Boo for sticking up for Gally, Budaj, everyone.

Galchenyuk is 19 years old. Gallagher 20, Eller 23, Patches 24, Price 25, Subban 23.Not only that, but we have so much potential coming up. Look at Beaulieu already. Then Tinordi, Ellis, Nygren, Dietz, etc on the back end, Kristo, Collberg, Holland, etc on the front. PLUS, MB kept all of our picks for this year so this draft could even turn out to be even more amazing in terms of our prospect cupboard.

We're just getting warmed up, and we may be a lot closer than most of us even realize.

Whatever happened to Tyler Myers? Wow. He's still young so I hope he can pick up his game next season but he looks like a shell of his former self out there.

With the talent Beaulieu is showing, I could not believe he was available at our pick (17th). We are getting lucky with picking defenseman.
