Getzlaf for me rather easily. Kopitar is underrated and I like him, but I am not even sure if I take him before M. Koivu. Getzlaf just can play the game in a higher level than Kopitar.

Getzlaf easily. Kopitar is becoming the new Datsyuk in the sense that he's that player that a small following of annoying fans always bring up as the odd ball "best player/most complete/whatever" answer just to go against the grain.

I really like what Kopitar brings. Saying that though, I would rather have Getzlaf.

Getzlaf is more talented offensively
More physical
Defensive game is pretty much a wash

So Getzlaf.

On the other hand, I don't think Kopitar has had seasons as bad as Getzlaf's last. You have to give some consideration to consistency

Comparing Datsyuk in his prime to Kopitar now is like comparing porn stars to the people who show their genitalia on Chat Roulette.

So we are going to ignore Getzlaf's been an over PPG player(something Kopitar has never done) in 5 out of 6 seasons since becoming a first liner? That is pretty damn consistent, and more impressive IMO.

Other than one season, Getzlaf has barely posted numbers that are so much better than Kopitar's as not to also take into context the kind of teams they play for.

So then your answer is YES, we are going to ignore that Getzlaf has been consistently over a PPG player.

I'll take Kopitar. Its really close but I like his game better and Getzlaf has superior linemates imo.

I thought "Gretz"laf was the best player in the league a month ago? What happened.

It's close, but I voted Kopitar.

I take it into consideration, but I would invite you to look at the teams' comparative GF every year of their careers. I even said myself that Getzlaf is a better player, but I am just pointing out that Getzlaf has a reputation for inconsistency of effort. Kopitar has inconsistency but he is constantly a hard worker.

It's not all about offense. You are also wrong in saying defense is a wash. Definetly not true.

You must look like a half dead zombie to be qualified as 'superior'

1A Malkin
1B Kopitar

2 Getzlaf

I think you're going to be surprised by the results.

I also was not the person who said defense is a wash but, it is definitely close.

I see consistent bottom-10 results for the Kings. Kopitar, for the last 4 years, has simply played on a team that does not prioritize offense

So Getzlaf.
That is flat out false. Kopitar is one of the best defensive centers in the league. Top-5 easily. Getzlaf is good defensively, but Kopitar is elite, on another level.

And Kopitar is a bull on the ice, there is absolutely no stopping him. He has the best puck-protection skills in the league. Unless you're talking about the 'hit' statistic, which is a very poor proxy for measuring physicality.

I would argue that Kopitar is better offensively too, but for the sake of me being too tired to argue it, we'll say that Getzlaf is more talented. However, Getzlaf is also lazy as ****, so he doesn't play much better than Kopitar offensively.

Yet, Getzlaf has a much better career PPG.

You must be out of your mind if you think kopitar is more physical. Getzlaf physical play can change the game with a hit, fight or intimidation. Kopitar is just big, not much else in the physicallity department

Spare us with the hyperboles. Getzlaf is no Messier, Neely or Lindros in terms of physicality.

Kopitar's career average is .913 PPG. Getzlaf's is .936 PPG. Please, 2% is not "much better". So yeah, you just got called out on your ******** there. Getzlaf has played with elite players in an offensive system his whole career. Kopitar has played with inferior players in a defensive system. I think that those numbers actually suggest that Kopitar is the better offensive player.

You must be out of your mind if you think that fighting, hitting, or intimidation is worth more than puck-protection, shielding, and creating space for himself and his teammates. Spare me your media narratives.
