Rumor- Dumont to Nashville...it's almost over...

Alain Crete from 98,5fm just said that Dumont will go to Nashville and it will be confirmed this morning. Might not be a legitimate source but if somebody else saw that anywhere else, please confirm it.

Anyway, he said that we will know this morning, if not I'll delete this thread later.....

TQS morning show also confirms that signing to be announced today.

Good for Dumont, Nashville seems to be a really happening place to play. As for him signing in Montreal, meh... would of been interesting but all too lateral for my liking. I'd much rather take a chance on our wildcard prospects a la Kostitsyn or even Lapierre and company.

"But what about getting depth???".... once again meh.... we're so deep at forward, any more depth and we're on the verge of paying Satan for room and board.

I have Upshall in my fantasy league. I hope this doesn't effect his playing time.

Why, if we had too many forwards, would we send a bunch of them to the Islanders to stay with Miro?

Anyways, kinda disappointed by this news. Its not often we get a good rumour to discuss around here and it seems like just as soon as this one started, its been resolved. I'd hoped we could have got a little extra mileage out of it. Ah well, with any luck we might have a goalie controversy at some point this coming season. Haven't had one of those for far too long.

My statement regarding depth was more in relation to the type of forward depth that we have. If this was last year, Dumont would have a spot in the roster over the likes of Bulis, Zednik and probably Sundstrom, all of which are wingers.

With this year's moves, our winger situation has been upgraded to the point where Dumont would have been a marginal lateral upgrade IMO. We know what Dumont brings to the table, and I would have taken him over the likes of the players mentionned above, but right now I feel comfortable enough with the forward core to take a gamble on Kost and company rather than blowing whatever cap space we have left on a player that brings a similar game to what other players already provide. In essence, if Kost can come in and have a solid rookie season a la Higgins, I would be more thrilled with that than a Dumont with 50+ points (maybe). Bring in a tough two way forward with grit and size, and I would be all for it, but another scoring winger that is more or less physical.... meh...

THANK YOU!!!!

I am starting to be really tired of some people here thinking that Dumont is the second coming of Maurice Richard.
Just look at him go down in fire with Nashville this year and imagine him in the Montreal hockey nuclear inferno.... The fans would have burn him on Ste-Catherine street before the month of december.

Bergie have to stop recruiting membership on this board.

I read on the Nashville board that the more than likely have to many forwards singed (unless they drop Radulov to AHL) and a deal may be the works to make Dumont some space...

What would be funny is that if we traded with Nashville for Hartnell or something (dream Hamhuis)...the Mtl media would go nuts!

I wouldn't be too surprised it you turned out to be correct. Entire West is shaping up to be a killer of a conference though.

J.P. Dumont will be skating for the Nashville Predators this coming season.

Sources tell TSN that Dumont has agreed to a two-year contract worth $4.5 million. He will be paid $2 million the first year and $2.5 in the second.

The 28-year-old forward became an unrestricted free agent in early August when the Buffalo Sabres walked away from an arbitration ruling awarding him a one-year $2.9 million contract.

The Montreal native scored 20 goals and added 20 assists over 54 games with Buffalo last season. He has 121 goals and 256 points in 434 games over his career with Chicago and Buffalo.

The official announcement is expected this afternoon.
