Huskins (possible keep?)

Bryz?

That's 7-8 at least off the big club - and some of the ? depend on whether they want to come back. I assume Feds won't. Gagne, it depends on the price. We have Bruno signed for 6/7 D, so we probably don't need Huskins in a Lilja role.

I can see them not qualifying Kessel, Wahl and Harper. If they really don't have a chance to be NHL players, why bother? Wellwood?

We could end up having up to 10 contracts, but they have to leave room for Laughton, just in case, and it's not updated for Alt or Straka.

Oh, and they'll have to sign at least one goalie to replace Bryz, if they buy him out, probably two, with a vet backup for the AHL.
Thank goodness you have Shelley resigned.

Wow. I was also wondering who would pick him up. Great hands and has speed. Can be lax on defense but is improving.

Was surprised when CLB didnt sign him. Really happy the Flyers did.

Any info on an ATO? Would be nice to see te last few games havr a somewhat stacked Phantoms

He can't play until next year. Why that is I have no idea but it was reported he can't join the organization until the summer.

Straka was drafted just two spots after Alt.

Also TAKE IT FOR WHAT ITS WORTH but:

Quote:
Straka will be eligible to play in the AHL next season, although you can expect he will get a look in training camp next fall for the Flyers, as well.
http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-phil...hree-year-deal

Timmy P stirring up **** up but there COULD be spots open next season, depending on what Homer does this offseason. Also he could just be stating that he has a chance like every other player to get a look at training camp. If like what I read is true and Straka has put it together, he could seriously make a push. Kid has talent. Really does.

No, Straka is quite common name in Czech, just like any other "bird name" (=> Straka=magpie; Spacek=starling; Vrana=crow; Sykora=chickadee; Cervenka=robin etc. )

The Phantoms can use any high drafted, talented body they can get.
Time to resurrect this squad of undrafted rejects, career AHLers and fill-ins!

Flannagen, Alt, Alderson, and now Straka... that's a good start to inject some talent. But it's easy to be considered talented when you compete with the Bordsons, Johnstons or Fitzgeralds of hockey in Adirondack.

That's really interesting. Hmmm, I wonder if Bryzgalov means 'albatross' in Russian.

LOL. But no. There is no direct translation of his last name. The closest translation would be "splashes". Bryzgi = splashes in Russian. So, technical translation would be Splashalov

I do like us doing this. Very low risk, potentially high reward. Look at Read!

Let's hope he does as well as the last guy we had come out of the Q.

For some reason I have a feeling that this may mean that they'll look to trade a piece like Read at the draft if they think Straka can contribute a the NHL level next year.

With reads contract being up after next season and us probably not being able to resign him, it would make sense.

Or Flanagan, w/ a single yr contract I think homer is thinking he'll have a legit shot at making the team next season.

I really feel like Couts (with Laughton waiting in the wings) and Read could be packaged w/ something else for something substantial.

Yeah I have said this before too, but I think Couturier (or Laughton) may be headed out of town. There are simply too many centers in the system with value to not trade one of them. If you keep Schenn/Couturier/Laughton/Giroux as your main four, then you have Cousins either moving to wing or not playing in the NHL, while you have one of Couturier/Schenn/Laughton playing fourth line minutes or moving to wing. If two of those guys can make the change to wing it is not a big deal, but I think the team might be better served dealing one (or two, potentially) for a defensive asset. Sometimes dealing for a position of depth for a position of weakness, even if "on paper" the trade isn't necessarily a win is a good thing.

Read I think the only reason he would be traded would be if there was some indication that he wasn't going to sign or wanted to test UFA or something. Other than that I think he stays.

Well I look at it like this. The team has done TERRIBLE this season. Now I see Snider forcing Homer to make changes (dont know how but he will)

I dont know what the lines will be but:

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds (I know Schenn has done well at center BUT Schenn-Couturier really worked out well in the AHL. They had some major chemistry).
Read-xxx-xxx
Rinaldo-Hall(hopefully)-Talbot

This leaves 2 SPOTS. One for a vet and rookie, maybe 2 rookies, or maybe 2 vets. This is where Laughton will have to go against the more "experienced" rookies like McGinn, Noebels, Flanagan, Straka, etc etc.

There are still openings though, and with the Flyers MAYBE trading away a piece during the summer for a defenseman (you never know with this team. I think they will pursue this route) there could be an opening or two for a rookie.
