What are Edmontons biggest needs?

Im thinking of starting a GM on NHL 13, and i want it to feel real.

So what are Edmontons needs? Top D? New Goalie?

Im thinking of trading Eberle, thats becuase i see Hall and Yakupov have more value on them, ( i dont care if Eberle gets better on NHL, i want it real)

So what are your guys thoughts of what u need?

Please

You will probably be better than Tambo is now.

Get us some defense, big 2C, and some bottom 6 that actually know how to play hockey.

I think you will have to provide specific trade ideas for us to evaluate for trade purposes. Too tough to speculate on a what would you want for him.

The oilers biggest needs in my opinion. A big top six forward, center or winger, has to be legit top six though. A top 4 puck moving defenseman, size would be nice but it is more important that the guy can skate or pass the puck out of his zone.

okey, thats what i have thougt u need defence, here in sweden i cant see that many Edmonton games cuz its to late on the night when they play for me.

But im thinking of putting Gagner as 3C like Rangers have Brassard, a guy that is more offensive than defense.

And im thinking of trying to aquire Subban or McDonagh, U guys value Eberle higher? Or is it a player vs player deal?

I would do Eberle for Subban irl.
But I doubt the Habs would.

And bring in Klefbom to play too.

Goaltending is one of the biggest needs for this team. Plus a good power forward, a top pairing D, depth on the lower pairing Ds...

OK this team has a lot of needs.

Wait for Rangers to spend to the cap and then offer sheet Del Zotto which they can't match only costing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Then trade them 1st,2nd and 3rd (from 2018) + lower prospect for those picks back and offer sheet Derek Stepan.

Edmonton's biggest needs

1) 2C
2) A better goaltender
3) A left handed puck moving defenseman who, unlike Ryan Whitney, can still skate
4) A version of Ryan Jones that is tough to play against
5) A version of Lennart Petrell that is tough to play against

Edmonton's best assets for addressing those needs

1) 2013 draft
2) Sam Gagner
3) 2014 first
4) Ales Hemsky
5) Anyone in the prospect pool not named Lander, Hartikainen, Marincin, Klefbom, or Musil
6) Cap space

Tank and draft Seth Jones first overall. It takes him five years to develop, but he ends up being like a 94 overall.

Acquire another first and draft Hunter Shinkaruk. For some reason, he always develops really quickly and he also plays really well with Yakupov on a second line.

Yes ..we could use a 3rd pairing Dman (16min\night) with worse +\- stats than N.Schultz on a stacked team..

Go check MIN board.. The guy is worse than Whitney minus a foot.

In NHL13... Trade Gagner for Stoll and you'll be fine...

Whitney is pretty good in that game so you dont need to get a #1D
Belanger, Horcoff, Stoll down the middle will win you 70% of faceoffs.

Trade for Grabner... That guy is rated insanely high in speed..
I would trade Eberle++ for him ..

Just something about the way the boards sounded every time Tom got crushed into them behind his own end. I miss that. I mean he could take a nasty check and still come out with the puck.

Saying we need a number one goalie is stupid. Dubnyk clearly is capable of being the guy here. If they can put a respectable defence and team in front of him where he isn't having to face 40 shots every night and consistent wide open guys in the slot every shift than the team will start winning.

I think their needs are as follows:

#1-2 Dman
#3-5 Dman (hopefully Klefbom can do this but doubt it for next season)
top 6 power forward
competitive bottom six players
back up goaltender

There is a lot of work to be done this off season... I don't think any GM can address all of this in one summer so I have serious doubt Tambo gets it done..
