We would. Anyway, he doesn't want to play here either.

Might be a good fit for the Islanders if he doesn't want a boatload of money on a 2 year deal

In the perfect world Nielsen would be our 3rd line center so Brierre could occupy the 2nd line center spot. It would also give us time to groom Nelson or Strome for 2nd line center spot(and if they good enough to play in the NHL we just use them on wing until they ready for center spot)

For Brierre if being close to Philly is a big factor it works out for him

I can easily see him ending up in Jersey or Long Island.

We got it in the teeth when Parise left, so adding someone like Brière, who can play anywhere, would be a FANTASTIC addition to our team offensively and regarding his defensive issues, I wouldn't worry too much about that. The fact that it would make alot of sense is the exact reason why it won't happen.

Please, someone, let him win the Stanley Cup when the hockey gods didn't want it for him in Philly ... He truly deserves it, he's a champion.

If the deal was reasonable, and he had any interest in coming back here, I wouldn't mind seeing Buffalo sign him. You need some veteran presence while you rebuild, and he was a co-captain on some really good Buffalo teams.
Im fine with Buffalo having him if its at his contract value ($3M per)...not the cap hit Philadelphia is getting hit at.

He really needs to play center to be happy and productive. As a wing this year on the Schenn/Simmonds line he was terrible.

Except we don't play a defensive system.

Just watch him sign in Pittsburgh for dirt cheap. So he can get a chance at a cup while flipping the bird to the Flyers for buying him out, ha ha.

I imagine he'll sign to the closest possible team to Philly at a reasonable cap hit so he can stay near the area his kids are and his ex-wife. Wouldn't be shocked to see him in Pitts tbh.

I'm expecting a buy out - $833333 for 4 years
current contract - real $ - $3 MIL next season, $ 2 MIL the next
my guess:
NJ for $3 MIL for 2 years, 2nd option would be Pitt.

This is exactly it. I hope Ottawa offers something for him at the draft, we have enough prospects to interest Philadelphia and help them shed some cap space.

He'll likely go to the Devils. They need a top 6 player badly and he can still live in the same area.

Why would anyone trade for Leino when they could sign him as a free agency after the amnesty buyout?

I wouldn't mind this if he could play on Richard's line, not sure if he can play the left, Flyers fans?

If his family is a consideration then the Devils would surely be a perfect fit.

I remember being surprised when the Flyers signed him way back when, right around the time the Rangers gave Gomez seven years, and I recall thinking that neither of these guys were going to see out those contracts for either team. But I never thought they would both be paid off and cut loose.

Think he makes a good fit in Washington and that is a close commute for the whole east coast thing. Oates will probably allow for more freelancing.

Always liked Briere, although I'm not sure he'd come here. I remember when he signed in Philly, he wouldn't go into details about himself and Montreal(about potentially signing there). Is is the market? his kids?

I don't want him here.
He made his bed. When MTL needed him so badly he chose the Flyers.
He only thought of himself first. The Habs made him a better offer and he still did not want to play for the habs. This year the Habs are a real TEAM with a TEAM first attitude, the last guy you need is a ME ME ME player. Like I said, he made his bed now sleep in it.
