Here are the latest GREAT news about the film: SPOILER ALERT

1. The Film is Rated PG-13 For intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, and for some language. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=73082

2. You may have noticed that there is one somewhat popular secondary character from the Superman world not yet confirmed to be in the film, Jimmy Olsen. Well, according to reports, a character named "Jenny Olsen" will be in the film. If you've seen the latest trailer, she's the woman beside Perry White (Lawrence Fishburne) running away from the destruction behind them. Some have been speculating that they have changed Olsen's gender for some creative purpose, I however highly doubt that, I think this is Jimmy's older sister. Before the DC Comic's "New 52", Jimmy was always several years younger than Clark Kent. So perhaps the Jimmy Olsen in the Man of Steel world is still a teenager and not yet working for the Daily Planet.

3. Besides Zod and Foara, there will be at-least two other Kryptonians in the film, Tor-An and Dev-Em. This is one of the most interesting news so far about the film in my opinion, to understand why, read more at: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=73080

4. Lastly, you saw a very quick glimpse of Zod in the second trailer, but you were not shown what his costume would look like. Thanks to leaked pictures of upcoming Man of Steel toys, we now know what his two costumes (his common kryponian costume and his armoured costume) will look like:

I cannot explain how excited I am for this film!

New Man of Steel pictures:

Superman is Henry Cavill. That's all.

Russel Crowe as Jor-El

Michael Shannon looking intimidating as Zod.

I love the medievil/technological look of Krypton. This film can't come fast enough.

Pretty much everything about this movie is pointing in the right direction. And I was skeptical at first. Putting Zod's Kryptonian coat of arms on his suit like Superman's is a cool idea.

A scooper (whom we know and trust 100%) has sent us reactions to early screenings of the film happening at WB, addressing many of the common concerns that we've all had from the beginning. Here's his bullet points from the screening(s):

- Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.
- It's the best movie of the year.
- There's TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.
- The cape is CG'd most of the time so it can look awesome.
- They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
- It's not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
- The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place

Another positive reaction from a person (actor Nick Jones Jr.) who saw a special screening of Man of Steel:

Quote:
Nick Jones Jr. I guess I can say this now. I saw Man of Steel the other day at a special screening.... It was a masterpiece of epic proportions.
He also states that the film is better than The Dark Knight, and compares the action scenes to Watchmen + Avengers. He also suggested that Henry Cavill did very well as Superman/Clark Kent.

Seriously, I'm very sceptical of these comments about a movie that's not even out yet. I remember seeing them with TDKR and well, that didn't exactly match the hype.

Don't like Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Should have went brunette with classical beauty instead of great actress who happens to be pretty IMHO

Erica Durance would have also made a better Lois Lane and would have been even hotter.

Erica Durance... I loved her, but I don't think she has the chops at this tone or this level.

Lois Lane isn't really supposed to be a "classic beauty" either.

New Man of Steel Pictures:

Spoilers:

Spoil:
Screenwriter, David S. Goyer, reveals to Entertainment Weekly that the children of Krypton (Superman's home planet) are engineered. "People were bred to be warriors or scientists or what-have-you, and there's a whole element in the movie about nature versus nurture," Goyer says. EW adds, "Kal-El is unique because he's a natural conception, free from genetic manipulation to choose his own course in life - which also makes his existence highly illegal."
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=77392

More confirmation/hints that Man of Steel is the first film in a DC Movie universe:

Quote:
On other characters entering the cinematic world of Man of Steel?
Roven: "[Man of Steel's] setting the tone for what the movies are going to be like going forward. In that, Man of Steel is definitely a first step. What Zack and Chris have done with [Man of Steel] is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world."

Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer was a little less direct on the same subject but he coyly dropped a hint that there will be some easter eggs.
Goyer: "I would love to tell you yes or no [on Man of Steel leading to a shared universe], but I think it’s going to be more exciting for people to keep a beady eye out and find what they can find."

What could have been interesting is if Lois was played by an African-American, like Zoe Saldana, Kerry Washington, Taraji Henson, Sydney Tamiia Poitier.

Would have been totally unexpected, which is kinda cool.

Just throwing it out there for discussion.

Sydney is also a female's name...and it's not unheard of for father's to pass their name down to one of their children. It's unusual for it to be passed on to a daughter, but it seems that in this case, it was doable.

It's not any more 'dumb' than a father passing his name on to a son.

I think it is more dumb. I'm not crazy about the name-passing thing, but with a son, you can at least use the excuse that it's traditional and something that's just generally done. There's no reason to go cross-gender name inheriting unless we're talking about a guy having a big ego/too much pride, IMO.

It seems like Man of Steel is playing up the messianic overtones.

Maybe he's starting a new tradition. In any case, it was his decision and she seems fine with it, so I don't see why anyone would object.

And the same pride/ego can be said of a man passing his name down to his son as well. Your assertion is a double standard at best and hypocrisy at worst.

It's always had them, no?

The son being sent by the father from far away to save the people of earth. Is raised by two people who aren't his parents, but leaves to fulfill his destiny. Is tempted often but remains righteous....and on and on.

Jesus...the original superhero story.
The Bible...the original comic book.

I figure give it a couple thousand years and we'll all be praying in Superman synagogues while calling the those in the Batman temples a bunch of heathens who won't be saved in order to go to Krypton, but will go to the Phantom Zone for being the sinful non-believers that they are.
