And Kozlov is no better than Ribeiro really. He shows up for only a few games a year, and won't be worth the $1M or more he's surely looking for.

As for Kozlov... generally despise his game, but I'm still in the camp that wouldn't mind getting a player, almost any player if it's cheap enough, instead of having a rookie in the pressbox.

Kozlov I'd be more willing to take a chance on, but I still wouldn't really want him. Ribeiro is still capable of some good play, its just a matter of if he tries his best. If he does, I have no problem with him being our 2nd line centre for the time being. He at least deserves the chance. Its a new start for our team with Guy in charge, everyone deserves their shot at proving themselves. If Guy doesn't like what Ribs offers, either he or Bob will do something about it. We have some options at centre already available if needed and there is always the possibility of a trade. For the time being though, Ribs is skilled, he's fairly cheap, he can point up points and he wants to be here.

Its now up to Guy and Bob to decide what they want from their players, Ribs included. They will let him know what is expected of him and it will be up to him to meet those expectations. Both Guy and Bob really know the game and are reasonable people, they aren't going to ask Ribs to do things he isn't capable of, but they will expect him to give his all. As long as he does that, I can see him staying around for a while yet (unless management has plans to aquire another high quality centre). At this stage, I personally wouldn't mind too much if Ribs is replaced for someone more consistant but I also don't have a problem with him staying.

BTW - nice job apologizing. Some people just appear on here, post **** and disappear. good to see someone actually admit a mistake and try and move on, many wouldn't have bothered

One thing I recall....

The one thing if I am not mistaken...he was pretty great on Penalty shots...but besides that..getting him is not really solving the second line center problem. Then again, this kid has load of talent..maybe playing with kovalev and sammy might be something he really needs. He would be a great insurance policy...

first, Kozlov is really a winger... he's always injured, and didn't get more than 50 something pts in the past 5y...

he's a huge guy but still plays soft..

not the kind of player you need in the new NHL... reminds me of Dagenais!

I'm not a fan of Kozlov...

Is it just me, or is Darz in overdrive today? Most mods would simply have locked the thread, but Darz is obviously doing his best to keep it open.

A big fat NO.

I'd rather have Ribeiro and that's saying a lot

Viktor is one of the most disenfranchised, heartless, players I've every seen. He literally has the talent to be a superstar, but has the mental game of someone merely collecting a pay cheque. It's a real shame to see talent wasted.

People bring him up because he played well for Russia on a line with Kovalev. Could it work in the NHL? Maybe. I'm not all that interested in finding out though. Let Ribs have one last shot, and if he can't make it work look to the UFA pool next summer or a trade.

Kozlov is NOT the answer.
