it'd be tough to predict with what team, but what do you think GMCF might offer to someone then? i might be over-valuing the first rounder, but it's kind of deflating to see that pick go away.

Powe was easily worth a 3rd, after Koivu he was our best Pker and also was our most impactful fourth liner by far last year. He was very good for this team IMO.

I checked the Swedish Icehockey Associaton's database, and this is what I got on Gustafsson:

  • 2006-2007: 170 cm (5'6.9")
  • 2007-2008: 185 cm (6'0.8")
  • 2008-2009: 187 cm (6'1.6")
  • 2009-2010: 188 cm (6'2")
  • 2010-2011: 188 cm (6'2")
  • 2011-2012: 188 cm (6'2")
  • 2012-2013: 188 cm (6'2")

That first season (from which the HockeyDB probably got its numbers) was when he debuted for Arboga in Hockeyallsvenskan as a 14-year-old.
Then, apparently, he grew 6 inches in a year!
Or, the Swedish Icehockey Association got it wrong...

Anyway, here are some pictures of him playing in a men's league as a 14-year-old.
You be the judge.

He can now, yeah. He just can't play in Houston when his CHL team is still playing. But if they're eliminated he can head on down.

Or come to Minnesota, I suppose. I wouldn't argue if he came up here.

I don't think he can come to Minnesota without his contract being activated which would mean he can't return to Red Deer next season if the Wild should want him to spend another year there. I'm not positive about that but i think that is the case.

Hmm. That might be true.

A lot of people(at least around here) are expecting him to challenge for a spot next season anyway but I'd rather it not start until needed.

I'm still holding out hope for Gunnarsson for the playoffs but the longer his team stretches out their season(good for them, by the way!) the less I think it'll happen.

With all due respect to Dumba, he cannot help the Wild at this time. He will have his hands full playing in the AHL. Its a big jump--I like him, but patience is key here, imo.

Thank you! finally someone else who realizes this kid is a project and not a sure-fire star.

I think Dumba shot at making the Wild roster next season out of camp is better than 50/50.

I think so too. Barring there will be no trades/signings.

Unless 6 CHL games somehow counts as a season, he'll start in either juniors or NHL.

Gustafsson has kept Luleå in the first SEL-final, alone. 0-0 going in to overtime. When I say alone, I mean _ALONE_.

You should really have a look

Too bad that his teammates can't score SAIK won 1-0 and Gustafsson faced 45 shots.

People don't like that he won't step in right away (we get spoiled as hockey fans by this sort of thing) or that he isn't making an immediate splash like Trouba did at Michigan/WJC.

He's going to take some time to develop because he's got to learn how to harness all of that talent, but if (when) he does, watch out.

Letting Coaches like Brent Sutter and John Torchetti work with him is a good thing.
