Interesting comparison.

I think I'd take 4. It has the only truly dependable forward and a goalie who fluctuates between average and elite. You have to gamble on Hamilton, but then you have to gamble with any other trio.

ranking my preference for each player (in general, G>D>F)

1) Rask
2) Price
3) Karlsson
4) Subban
5) Kessel
6) Miller
7) Reimer
8) Myers
9) Galchenyuk
10) Hamilton
11) Kadri
12) Lehner
13) Gardiner
14) Grigorenko
15) Gallagher

so using these rankings and assuming the lowest score would be the best,

Team 1: 23
Team 2: 25
Team 3: 19
Team 4: 21
Team 5: 31

IMO it would be a bit more fair if Karlsson was swapped with Subban and/or Galchenyuk was swapped with Gallagher.

I'm taking #3 assuming Karlsson is healthy. Karlsson locked up and really good. Galchenyuk has many years of control left. Reimer is a decent to good and has one very affordable year left.

Team 3 has the best player...

Reimer is an above average goalie already with good upside, young, controllable at a good amount.

Karlsson...best player when healthy

Gally....got good upside, even if the team is to built to win now, he has good trade value.

How did you come up with these trios? Seems odd and #3 takes the cake pretty easy

With Crosby's injury a healthy Karlsson would have won the Hart this year. I think he's the next 4+ Norris winner. I think he's the second best player in the world.

I would pick Karlsson alone over Price + Kadri.

Add Galchenyuk and it's not even close.

Step 1: Take all the Northeast players.
Step 2: Put players in blender.
Step 3: Turn on blender.
Step 4: Fill 5 cups full of blended substance.
Step 5: Make HFboards poll.

I chose trio number 3. [Healthy] EK is a game changer.

Close between 2 and 3 but took 3 because Karlsson's the best.

Price would be my goalie of choice, but the Reimer Karlsson combo is why I went with 3

Well that seems a little premature.
