he becomes expandable with Krüger and Shaw doing fine as Bottom 6 Centers and McNeill/Danault in waiting position

Bit above average for an elite shutdown center that flags during the regular season but is a proven playoff warrior/shutdown machine? I'll take that.
I wonder how Bolland's salary compares to #3 centers around the league.

Make no mistake, if there was no salary cap I'd have no problem with Bolland at his number. But when you look at the players the Hawks have, keeping a 3 million dollar Bolland at #2 center where he is ineffective or at #3 center where you then have a glaring weakness at #2 center since you don't have the cap space to acquire a #2 center is a terrible misuse of assets.

Best solution- jettison Bolland and use his cap space to find a short term #2 center while waiting for TT or Denault. Let Shaw, Krueger, and Pirri fill the #3 C spot.

Patrick Sharp has said he'd play centre if asked...but Q hasn't asked him.

Quote:
"I'd go back there 100 percent," said Sharp, who was injured March 6. "We have four centers and guys sitting out who are capable of playing there but if Joel asked me I would do it in a heartbeat."
I'm not convinced

What I've said all along. It's Q who doesn't want him there, not the other way around, IMO.

Probably why Bowman won't go out and get a 2C...because he knows he has one already, just Q won't play him there.

I've been saying this for a while.

It makes more sense than saying Sharp doesn't want to play center so Q doesn't play him at center.

Q has never shown a problem with playing guys where they don't want to be before. Why would he suddenly start with Sharp, especially after 2010?

He wouldn't. The only reason Q doesn't play Sharp in the middle because Q doesn't want Sharp in the middle. Sharp's desires have nothing to do with it.

I have a feeling we might see him play some center in the playoffs this year. I have no evidence to back that up, just a gut feeling.

I agree. Which begs the question... why? If he's fine with throwing Kane into that role... it's just very odd. It's not like Sharp's production dropped off terribly at center. If I recall correctly it was pretty much the same as ever. ~30 goal, 65 point pace.

Especially having a very determined and focused Patrick Kane on his wing, Sharp would have had a shot at 20-25 goals this year if he stayed healthy and played center all year. Kane's playmaking is as good as it's ever been and should logically be just the thing needed to jump start Sharp's production.

or Sharp says this knowing that they have Toews, Bolland, Krüger, Handzus and Shaw on the Roster... Sharp also knows about the youth in our franchise and if he wants to stay in the Top6 the next 2-4 years, he'd be smart to play that position

Habs have got their hands full with #2 centres. Was wondering if you wonderful Hawks fans would be at all interested in Plekanec or Desharnais. Plekanec is signed for the next 3 years at 5mil and Desharnais is signed for 4 at 3.5mil.

Canadiens are in need of big wingers/PP specialist to replace Ryder and defensive defenceman. Also know that Timmins and Bergevin had had a lot of interest in Terravainen when he was drafted.

we have guys in the pipeline who *should* get a shot next year. doubt the hawks have any interest in a guy who's signed for 3 at 5 already and desharnais is smalllll.

Eller is the only guy of interest and we will not give up Teräväinen for him

Desharnais has looked horrible this year...and Plekanec hasn't looked so hot either.

Also, no way that Bowman trades Teravainen at this point.

I wouldn't say Desharnais has been horrible, just down from last years crazy season. He's still excellent as an offensive exploitation center, good for 40-50pts. Plekanec has been his usual self, good for 60pts and outstanding defensively.

Understandable that Teravainen is off the table, there's a reason management was so high on him, awesome prospect. Are there roster players that you would deem available through trade? Hjalmarsson was a name consistently thrown around in the past, any interest in trading him now?

Made me cringe a little.

Seabrook would be a huge acquisition for the Habs, a little worried it might be too big a move. All Habs fans would love him, wouldn't love what it would cost. Plekanec+ is pretty hard to swallow when the team needs little tweaks. Would something centering around Desharnais and Hjalmarsson work? Diaz (keep in mind he's out with a concussion) might be available as well. I don't want to get too crazy and say that Markov is too but.. it's tough to say with new management.

Desharnais would get killed in West and really isn't a #2C or worth it

Also soon to be 27
