College hockey's All America team came out Friday, and among the first-teamers was UMass Lowell defenseman Chad Ruhwedel.
It's apparently possible that when the Sabres' roster for today's game against Philadelphia comes out, Ruhwedel will be on that, too.
Reports say the junior has left school to sign with the Sabres, but no contract has been filed with the league, The News has learned. Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that if a contract can be finalized by this afternoon, Ruhwedel will play against the Flyers.
Just an update here, as Buffalo has officially signed Ruhwedel .. he's in the arena per beat writer John Vogl, so he'll likely be Buffalo's sixth d-man this afternoon (as there's been no emergency recall and Scott did not practice there yesterday) .. Enroth is scheduled to get a start this weekend, but no word yet if that's today or not (he played the final 20 minutes on Thursday).
What exactly are they trying to do? Establish Mason as the #1 for next season?
Maybe Bryzgalov will get amnestied and not Briere
Maybe they figure Briere can be moved in the off-season whereas nobody would touch Bryzgalov's contract
Bryzgalov was the best Flyers' player in the last game and the team still lost. The decision today is probably based on what is happening now more so than next season. And give Mason some actual playing minutes.
