That's just really bad luck with Myers. The Flyers have a few mediocre defensemen hanging around; you're welcome to them. Just as long as they score on the Flyer net.

Somewhat fitting that our season should come to an end (statistically speaking) in the armpit of America.

A must lose game. Even if we win in OT we jump them.
I don't think I will bother getting up at 5am to watch this masterpiece!

Given the nonexistence of either team's regular defense, my suggestion is that they play the entire game as an all-forward 4-on-4.

A possible new d-man for Buffalo:

Quote:
College hockey's All America team came out Friday, and among the first-teamers was UMass Lowell defenseman Chad Ruhwedel.

It's apparently possible that when the Sabres' roster for today's game against Philadelphia comes out, Ruhwedel will be on that, too.

Reports say the junior has left school to sign with the Sabres, but no contract has been filed with the league, The News has learned. Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that if a contract can be finalized by this afternoon, Ruhwedel will play against the Flyers.
http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/...-ruhwedel.html

Edit: He has been signed (http://www.goriverhawks.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1973).

What better place on earth than Buffalo for the battle of:

"Let's See Who Sucks Less"

Weren't the Sabres supposed to be good this year? They were everybody's darling last year - supposed to win the northeast and all...

Enroth is scheduled to get a start this weekend, but no word yet if that's today or not (he played the final 20 minutes on Thursday).

^ I noticed a Twitter comment from the same writer...

Buffalo has a new d-man.

Sabres coach Ron Rolston refuses to say who Chad Ruhwedel will be paired with or who will start in goal.

John Scott will play this afternoon. Rolston wouldn't say which goalie is starting

What exactly are they trying to do? Establish Mason as the #1 for next season?

Maybe Bryzgalov will get amnestied and not Briere

Maybe they figure Briere can be moved in the off-season whereas nobody would touch Bryzgalov's contract

Bryzgalov was the best Flyers' player in the last game and the team still lost. The decision today is probably based on what is happening now more so than next season. And give Mason some actual playing minutes.

I think they want to see Mason a lot to let Reese etc figure out how to fix as much as possible until September.
