Matt Harvey is truly a special player.

Is the best young pitcher in the NL East playing in Flushing?

Nah, Wheeler's better...according to a scout Adam Rubin talked to, Harvey is Pelfrey without the splitter.

I'm still awed by the hilarious awesomeness of John Buck.

His name had to be John Buck too. It's just one of those perfect, funny names. Like Rick Nash.

Scary thing is, purely on talent there's not that big of a discrepancy between Pelf and Harvey. Pelf could be a dominant pitcher if he actually understood how to pitch and wasn't a nutcase.

I keep expecting Harvey to regress and look like Pelf, because I just can't believe this dude continues to pitch like he has.

Here's the thing about Harvey...he has an arrogance about how he approaches a game that I haven't seen from a Met pitcher in a long time. He believes he is an ace, and therefore, he is one.

Also, if it was anyone other than Jordany or Buck, it wouldn't be funny.

Also, ouch town on that HR right there. Damn.

Funny thing is John Buck may be the BPA in the Dickey trade.

Doh, a Harvey no-no and a Rangers win would've made for a great night. I'll take a win and a win!

I have a feeling that Harvey will take a few more no-nos late into games before he's done.

And agreed, he's cocky. Is he really the next Doc?

Hopefully without the coke addiction, and not becoming a Yankee.

What was most impressive there was his lack of emotion when Morneau got the homer.

I love guys who are passionate, but passion isn't the question with Harvey not flipping out there. He's mature beyond his years and knows greatness is in his future.

What a joy watching him pitch.

Doc is a groundball pitcher with a nasty cutter.

Harvs relies mostly on his slider as the go to pitch.

I say a comparable may be Josh Johnson.

Damn, I thought the Doc reference was to Doc Halladay.

I'm too young.

Gooden put up some stupid seasons as a Met. I can only imagine what it looked like live.

So Harvey has pitched, what, 22 innings, and has given up 6 hits this season? That's scary.

Feel lucky to have Sam broadcasting for the Rangers. Sometimes I almost forget how awesome the Mets booth is.

Even better he's only walked 6 batters in 22 innings. He's always had some control issues but seems to have finally figured it out. Love this kid.

wheeler and harvey have the potential to be a lethal 1-2 punch in the starting rotation
