No thanks. I'd rather have Nurse, Monahan, Ristolainen, etc.

I'm sure we could trade Mez for a 4th at worst. Last year of his deal, no need to use a buyout.

Completely agree provided someone will actually take him off our hands. Too frail and rarely worth his cap hit when healthy.

I dunno. It is has been too long since he's been healthy.

But Ryan Whitney will probably get $3.5+ as a UFA. I'm not sure Meszaros at $4.0 is that out of line.

Send Mez and a 5th for a 2nd. Buyout Briere. Sit with Bryz and Mason for next year, and hopefully since have a true back up, we can give Bryz more frequent rests. Re-sign Gagne. Draft Jones or Nurse. Bring up Laughton for the year (if he does well enough to stay out of the OHL).

Gagne-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds
Laughton-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Gus
Grossmann-Jones/Nurse
Huskins/Gervais

Bryz
Mason

That's a fairly conservative prediction--and probably about right if we end up with Jones. I doubt Nurse is in the NHL next year--it seems he would be better suited returning to juniors with some of the over-agers gone.

I'd be surprised if Laughton is slotted in at 3LW (I think Talbot might start there, and perhaps they flip spots later?), but personnel wise, it seems about right.

Even though it says Mez is bought out, I just put him there since we would trade him for a pick or something like that. Even if Pronger was on LTIR, we would have a ton of space (over 9M). And yes, I know Jones isn't up there...

If we end up with Nurse, and do the rest of that the way you suggest, I think it makes a lot more sense to hold on to Meszaros for the year. If things go south and he proves he can stay healthy, move him in season, or simply play it out.

Dumping him for a pick might make sense if it opens up cap space for another move, but otherwise, I think we should hold on to him. It is a contract year--he might rebound.

Well it's over

Well it will be along summer now! I hope there will be changes need a coach and assiantant coaches who teach d to whole team. A GM that and staff that pick talent we need please from goalie out. Also have Phathoms play same system has big club so they can pop in and know it. The players on this team are most 2nd line and down players. Except maybe for G but he quit and was not ready for the C!!!! So in my small mind everyone is up for grabs!!!! Please I want a big fast skill team that won't get man handle in their own building and let the other team when on road were here to play! Give younger guys a shot and teach Oliver how to fight. Rip away

It was Eliotte Friedman, who suggested that the Flyers were "making the biggest run" at Hartzell.

Oh, I thought it was PJ. But yeah, he was at our camp last year, so I could see the Flyers try to drive for him.

One thing I wouldn't do is trade Couturier. His work against Malkin is just too good to get rid of. Crosby vs Giroux and Malkin vs Couturier will be around for a long time. Hopefully the Flyers will bring in a coach good for the young guys on this team. Giroux/Schenn/Couturier/Laughton look like a pretty solid corps for centering the four lines next season. Schenn I think right now is playing third line center quality hockey, but if he can slow the game down, his potential is quite high. If he can't slow the game down and play smarter hockey I would move him to wing and find a suitable 2nd line center.

I don't see the rush to get rid of Mez. He is in the last year of his contract which is when most guys play their best. When Mez plays he is an awesome all-round dman. Until last season and this he was pretty healthy. I would ride it out with him and if he gets hurt LTIR him. Move him at the deadline when he has more value if he is healthy.

Hopefully, draft Nurse or best sniper available assuming Jones is gone.

Is this a doable deal or realistic start?

Flyers give 1st, Coots, and 2nd.

Ducks give Ryan, Sbisa, and 1st.

Ducks get a centeman to play against Sedin, Kopitar, Big Joe, Benn in Coots and add a young top 10 player with the Flyers 1st.

Flyers get a sniper for Giroux and a steady d man.

Ryan -Giroux- Voracek
Read - Schenn - Simmonds
Gagne - Laughton - Hartnell
Hall- Talbot - Rinaldo

Kimo - Schenn
Coburn-Mez
Grossman - Sbisa

Bryz
Mason

amnesty Briere

who is going to trade for mezaros coming off 3 major injuires in the last 8 months? please tell me this team? there is none.

the only way mezaros can be moved is if he comes to cmap and plays in everygame for 2 or 3 months. that or unless you move another assest with him and take nothing back.

he is in thelats year of his dela. i would bet he wants another payday. one would htinkhe wants to play well to get that payday. keep him or move him at the deadline. buy out is a waste

Instead of the 1st give Read + Mez and keep the 1st for a top 3!!!
So Read+Mez+Couts+2nd round vs Ryan + Sbisa
Read will be replace by Ryan
Mez replace by Sbisa
Couts replace by laughton
we lose nothing but the 2nd round and we also got our top 5 draft!!!!

Pretend you follow the Ducks. In what world are you now a better team? You gave up guys who are productive already for a good young prospect in Couturier and 2 impending free agents (one of whom is coming off 3 major injuries).

Just because you think a trade helps the Flyers, don't assume other teams are fine getting bent over.

Who cares if we missed out on a 24 year old college free-agent. The chances of him making any kind of impact in the NHL are slim anyways. Just because we struck gold with one 24 year old college free agent (Read), doesn't mean it's going to happen every time

Then if you think its not enought trade coutz+mez+2nd for ryan
Is that better?? I think mez can be had if you overpay. If you ask me Sbisa for Read(sign him for the trade if you want) + 2nd is a good trade for both team little overpayment for the flyers dont think Sbisa is a 1-2 D but Read is a top 6 Foward

Sign Ryan as a FA in 2015. Don't waste assets to bring him in a year or two early.

I concur with this. If Ryan really would like to play for the Flyers he would sign here when he is a FA. I am sure the Flyers would give him a nice contract too.

Crazy Dream:

Trade for picks:
Briere (or byout)
Meszaros
Read (Try to get 1st in package)

Try to trade powerforwardsniper(Ryan/Stewart/Clarckson)/1st defender or try to trade somehow to get 2 first rounders (get two of Nurse,Ristolainen,Zadorov).

Let Gagne, Shelley, Knuble, Hall, Rosehill, Fedotenko, Walker, Foster, Huskins, Lilja and Boucher go.
Resign Rinaldo, Gustafsson, Lauridsen, Manning.

Sign from UFAS three gritty players to bottom6, second one with faceoff skills.
Like two of Morrow/Clowe/Clarkson and Hendricks/Komarov.
