We were in Trouba area last draft... until we won a few meaningless games

Solid game by the boys though.. You can tell they are playing with pride, and jobs.

Really love watching Backlund develop... Reinhart, Baertschi, and Brodie look like great pieces too!

There's a difference between hoping for the team to lose, and being able to see the bright side if they don't win. For me, I still cheer for a win, I will cheer for a solid effort, and still get excited when they score.

Yes I understand there is a benefit if they lose. I can't, I won't cheer for that. If someone else wants to do that, good for them. Don't expect me to bow at their feet proclaiming them "king of the fans" either.

exactly.

and we don't want mediocrity either, which I know someone will claim. We want the Flames to win every game, winning every game would hardly be mediocre

You also don't want to establish that losing is okay, it's not. Winning is contagious and so is losing.

Oh, god. The tankers are infiltrating HF. I know there wasn't much of us in numbers, but at least no one said **** like "jeopardizing our draft position." Get the fork out of here with that.

Caught bits of this one at the bar. Hudler and Backlund looked great out there.

Hudler can be infuriating at times though. There were at least a handful of opportunities for him to shoot and he elected to pass instead. It was brutal. And then of course he got a goal from that Backlund shot The guy is skilled but man it he hard to watch at times.

The talked about that on 960. Right now, winning games are fine so long as the team does not climb the standings.

For me, I always cheer to win. Always. But that's just more because I am a sore loser than anything. Fortunately in our situation even if we do lose there are still benefits, so it's a win-win situation for me.

Cheer for that team to the north if you want to cheer to tank. We will get a quality player this draft, I'm happy about that.

Just gotta say that watching Brodie is a genuine treat, love his style of game.

This is becoming pathetic with people actually cheering to lose. For a second I thought there were oiler fans in here.

but "it's all a joke, no one is cheering against them" or did that excuse get played out when half a dozen people said it was true?

I just don't understand how anyone with a morsel of pride can hope to lose. Finishing last and getting the first overall pick is like kissing your hot cousin. Sure you got to kiss a hot chick, but its nothing to be proud of since its your cousin.

Ok guys, not this **** again. Flames fans don't come prepackaged in a can. You cheer how you want to, they'll cheer how they want to. HFBoards is for everyone to enjoy, hence they've provided ignore buttons, report a post buttons, private messaging, but most importantly, they've provided rules.

I don't mind the debate as long as it doesn't turn into "These guys over here are not real fans or they're Oilers fans". As long as the ultimate goal of a poster is to see Flames success over all other clubs in the long term, there's a common understanding and sharing of viewpoints. Try to focus on that.

Simple solution to this asinine debate. Don't cheer for the Flames to lose. Instead, hope that Colorado, Florida,Carolina, Tampa Bay and Nashville win the majority of their remaining games.

I've got no problem with that.

Flames win 80% of their games, everyone else wins 100% and we get the top pick without being an embarrassment.

No that won't work either. Technically you'd be trolling the Flames boards as a TB, Nashville, etc. fan

Exploit the bandwagon loophole.

Keeping the Flyers playoffs hope alive! There's still a chance!
