Sign him. Sounds like he would be a good pick up.

I vaguely remember this name. I think I took him in a mock draft a few years ago. Go get 'em.

Adding more depth to the system to shake things up in Adirondack can only help. How long have we seen Manning (who is still quality) and guys like Blake Kessel. Keep making these type of moves.

I don't think this guy would leave his KHL team with the idea of playing minor league hockey.

Why not? He's only 21 and the NHL is his goal. He may have to start as a Phantom.

For those that were wondering about his weight, it looks like Elite Prospects didn't update their info

He;s about 185-190 now

There's a good amount of delusional pro-KHL posters in that thread on the trades and rumors board. They have a hard time grasping why a Russian player would want to come over and play in the NHL.

It's really just that one guy. He's a tool. He's got a long history of being anti-NHL and anti-NHL. He's best ignored

Eh, the way I read most of them, they are wondering whether a guy would leave the KHL to play in the AHL.

Honestly, I'd be entirely comfortable with a guy like this penciled into our top 6/7.

Clearly, he can't be a significant downgrade from Gervais or Foster while possessing considerably more upside. I could easily see him being a good partner for a Grossmann or Coburn on the second or third pairing.

in his defense he hasn't really taken any in high rounds recently. the only ones that come to mind are Sbisa (1st rounder), Marshall (2nd rounder) and Ghost (3rd rounder). Ghost seems to be developing well but it's still early, Sbisa was traded before we could see how he would turn out in our system and Marshall is just a straight up bust. and considering Subban was taken one or two spots later that one really hurts. but i think the main problem attributing to our lack of high end defensive prospects is the fact that the team doesn't draft d-men in higher rounds.

"So, Mr. Zaitsev, let me up the ante. If you can be here tomorrow, I'll personally make sure you're on the top pairing for the game against the Rangers. ... No, for real. ... And that's just an expression of how highly we think of you, not in any way out of desperation!"

Knowing our luck, he'll announce his new contract with the Pens soon...

sounds from the one report on another thread around here that he is playing in Europe until 4/30 so we might not hear anything until after. probably why the Flyers didnt want the report leaked, gives teams 15 days to try and get him to change his mind -- if its all true.

He'd probably rather develop in the KHL for at least another year or two.

Or sign with PHL and announce he's concussed shortly thereafter.

Can he have #91 after the Mosin-Nagant 91/30?

It's about time for the Flyers to start looking at what has been working for decades for teams like Detroit and New Jersey!
Sign him! He'll also be able to talk in his native language to Bryz. Perhaps the Flyers organization will finally fix the defense problem, rather than wait for a Pronger return.....and stop looking for a Pronger replacement!

To me, Pronger is the latest Forsberg. How long did it take the Flyers to get over that mistake?
I still see idiots posting for a Forsberg return each season!

For the most part in defense of Holmgren, he's had too good of options in the first round on forwards. Or he's moved the pick. Outside of Hamilton, who really would have been the it guy.

The GM only drafts and signs the players. The problem with the development side lies with the coaching staff.
