For clarification purposes, Brett Lawrie will be playing 2B for the D-Jays today. That was not a typo.

Umm... WAT? I guess they want Lawrie at 2B to see how it goes...?

Perhaps they want to play their every day 3B instead of their everyday 2B? Lawrie is only there to get some real game swings in before re-joining the Jays.

(annoyed grunt) guess AA is reading the TSN\sportsnet comment sections and listening to the Jays Talk callers. My god...what is happening. Bautista at 3B, Lawrie at 2B. None of this seems like logical thinking to me at all.

Sigh...what do I know.

There is no prospect, everyday 3B, at Dunedin currently. They've been playing Andy Burns (C-level SS prospect) there so far this year. If they were just looking to get Lawrie AB's, then they would DH him.

Well he played 2B for when he was in Milwakees system, so it makes sense, kind of?

If it works out long term, we could be setup with a 2B-SS combo of Lawrie-Reyes.

I have absolutely no clue who plays in A ball... I'm just saying where he plays means nothing. He's just getting some games in to get his timing back

He was really, really bad at 2B in the Milwaukee system. He is quite valuable as a third basemen. The move makes little sense.

Hopefully by the time Lawrie returns on Friday this team is going to be on a 7 game win streak. They can do it with the pitching staff they have.

Yea he did rack up the errors. But before you say it makes little sense, you have to give it a chance. He was 19 when he played it, he's a hard working player, hes awesome at defense at third, so I could see an arguement that if he works hard enough he could work out at 2B.

If it does work out, a 2B-SS combo of Lawrie - Reyes is pretty damn fine going forward.

I counter with this:

RF Gose
LF Cabrera
3B Bautista
1B Encarnacion
2B Lawrie
C Arencibia
CF Rasmus
DH Lind
SS Izturis/Kawasaki/Bonifacio

Even in your example, I would put Rajai in RF before Bonifacio.

I'll counter once more and say that the organization has been in love with another young man as a RF, and that is Moises Sierra. This all reeks of a way to get him into the lineup. Jose to third, Lawrie to second, Moises in RF. IMO, they want Gose to get a full year in Buffalo, and wont call him up unless Colby gets hurt. Moises is a little older, and all his tools are ready. It's really just his tool box that needs work.

Good, except you've got 4 RH in a row
Lind or Rasmus 5th or 6th probably

Gose is left-handed, and Melky is a switch-hitter.

So lineup today is:

CF Bonifacio
LF Cabrera
3B Bautista
DH EE
C Arenciibia
1B Lind
RF Davis
2B Izturis
SS Kawasaki

And I got picked apart yesterday for putting Bautista at 3B and Rajai at RF....

Oh, my mistake. I didn't realize he had switched around the original poster's line-up. I just assumed he was bolding all the hitters he thought were LH.

Of course, in that case, I should have also noted that Bonifacio, Izturis and Kawasaki aren't strictly right-handed (Kawasaki being strictly left). Just a fail on my part.

My bad.

Not sure if you guys seen this yet, but Kawasaki is the Japanese Reyes hahaha! Of course, not the abilities, but amazing defensively and can up-the-tempo in the clubhouse!

Scott MacArthur ‏@TSNScottyMac 1m
Anthopoulos: Lawrie playing 2B in Dunedin today. Consideration being given to Lawrie 2B/Bautista 3B infield. #BlueJays #MLB

So they are looking at moving Lawrie to 2B potentially
