Thank god he got it, so now people can shut up about it. It means nothing anyway if you watch the guy every night, he is a beast

By far the best goalie in the NHL.

It's not close.

Bobrovsky has been playing great, but I still think Hank deserves another Vezina this year.

Hank put on a show tonight. Truly a joy to watch. This team is frustrating at times but we are witnessing greatness with Hank.

This a post I wrote on the main board:

Quote:
I'm one of the biggest critics of Lundqvist on the Rangers board. However, greatness is really defined by consistency. The Sidney Crosbys of the world bring it every damn year. Lundqvist is in that realm. For a good portion of the year people were wondering what was up with Lundqvist. I know we have a few more games left, but then you look at his stats and he's having yet another dominant season. His worst season in the NHL would be the best of most GOOD goalies. I still hate how he just HAS to have a month a season when an imposter wears his jersey. Knowing how good he is that's disappointing, but there's no denying that Lundqvist is a great player. Anyone can have a season or two of great play but consistent dominance is incredibly rare.

Edit: Not to pick on a great goalie, but for some reference. A guy that is widely considered a top 5 goalie in the league, Carey Price in 6 seasons has 2 seasons where he has a higher save percentage than Lundqvist's WORST season. If that's not dominance I don't know what is.

Edit 2: I was wrong, Lundqvist's worst save % was .912. His second worst is .916, not too far off. That's what I was comparing to Price. Still the point remains.

Edit 3: Lundqvist's save % CAREER AVERAGE is .920 (sick btw). Price only beats that in one SINGLE YEAR with a .923. More stats brought to you by Snowblind.

Good post. People always fall in love with the flavor of the month. (IE: Miller in 2010, Quick last year, Bob this year,) yet Hank is always right there with them. People just fail to see it.

I wish we were hitting the half-way point of a full season right now.

So much would be different at the end of it when compared to how they are now.

OK

Now that he has a shutout....safe to say he has the Vezina?
I couldn't see him getting a vezina without a shutout.

Just like Halak and Elliot, he will fall back to Earth next season. I would bet money on that.

I would have no problem with Bob winning the Vezina but Hank winning would obviously be nice

Halak and Elliot are just products of the Hitchcock system. Everybody knows it.

My problem is with Quick last year

But these products have not produced very quality numbers this year.

Quick was infuriating though. One good year where everyone on the Kings played well in the playoffs and suddenly he's the best goalie in the world? What a load of **** that was.

This same ******** happens every year. Remember Tim Thomas? How about Miller?

Tim Thomas was really good though. He just chose to "retire" early. And lol at Miller. All Buffalo wants to do now is trade him.

According to NBC, Bobrovsky will win the Vezina if the CBJ make the playoffs.

Some will agree. I say ********.

I remember talking to an old friend during the beginning of the 2011-2012 season and telling her that Henrik Lundqvist would never win a Vezina trophy.

My reasoning behind that thought process was solely due to the fact that Lundqvist was consistently an amazing goalie. The thing is, I never saw him having a season with a sub 2 GAA that is the sexy number that the GMs want to see when voting for the Vezina. I thought forever in his career Lundqvist would finish the season anywhere from 2.1 - 2.3 with 35-40 wins, and forever be a bridesmaid and not a bride because there would always be that one person who went off that season, and proceeded to fall off the map.

Last year, I was beyond surprised to see Lundqvist not only finish with a sub 2 GAA (not because I didn't think he was capable of doing so, just because I had bought into his consistently amazing status) but take home the Vezina as the goalie who had "that season."

Now I look at Lundqvist, the stats that he puts up. Sitting at a 2.06 GAA right now with only 1 shutout is the epitome of consistency.

The Vezina should be Lundqvist's to lose at this point, and if he continues at his current pace he will once again finish with a sub 2 GAA. Perhaps this is the new level of consistency for Henrik Lundqvist as he enters his prime.

I always like to take a step back and remind myself how lucky I am as a New York Rangers and New York Giants fan. Having that consistency at such an important position. Knowing that for now and a bit into the future at this point what you're going to get from your goalie and QB every season. What a delight it has truly been, as you look at teams who have no idea what they're going to get every season.

It's been a privilege to watch Lundqvist his entire career, and I hope he adds three trophies to his hardware collection in June.

We don't allow babe threads on HFBoards, folks.

Lundqvist has turned on god-mode the past few games. Man, was he lights out against the Canes. He's turning it on at just the right time, too.

I have to think that he's now the Vezina favorite after his performances lately.

Nope, Bob got the vezina quite clearly as of now. Will see what happens during these last few games; it's Bob's trophy to lose at this point.

All of the stats are incredibly close except for shutouts. I know it shouldn't matter but I just don't see how the voters will vote in someone like Bob over someone like Lundqvist. Would you want to be responsible for voting in a one year wonder for the Vezina? They will look bad if that happens.

The voters are the GMs. As of now, Bobrovsky deserves it over Lundqvist and I'm sure the GMs know that.
