Seems like he did something to get sent down. I think we see him walk when his contract expires..

Would be a mistake not to re-sign Nemisz. There's no reason for the organization not to give him at least one more opportunity to see what he can do.

He did something alright - he did his best impression of an awful hockey player.

Yeah, even if he ends up becoming a journey-man he still fits well on that Heat team and there is lots of space for him.

Blair Jones definitely did something, it was something bad enough that Hartley refused to comment after Jones was placed on waivers other than saying there are some things that can be talked about in the media and some things that can't and then never said anything more.

I read comments on another website where in practice one day Jones had every member of the coaching staff gathered around him and it was a heated discussion, this was in the days leading to him being waived.

My person view point is that he didn't do something that Hartley asked him to. In his last game we were losing fairly badly and I saw Jackman trying to get someone to drop the gloves, I saw Comeau try to goat someone into a fight too, but the 3rd member of that line, Mr. Jones tried nothing of the sort. Knowing Hartley is a coach that likes to send a message, I think that is where the problem with Jones lays. He was not willing to do what the staff wanted & needed.

Yes.

And based off AH's comments above, at least Comeau did what he was asked to do in whatever situation he was asked to be in.

For all the heat Comeau got, it wasn't his fault he was grossly misused here. Great 4th/3rd line energy guy but that's all you got. Some people expected (wrongly) that he'd find his 20 goal form again.

Not trying to start a Comeau bashing session especially since he eventually became an effective player this season but he had some undeniably bad stretches early on when he looked like a beer league call up. I just never considered Jones, while somewhat inconsistent, deserving of that same assessment.

Anyway, just curious as to the story behind the story.

I wouldn't say Nemisz is a "bust", depends how you look at "busts".

But if you were expecting a top 6 F, he never had that kind of talent. More like a solid, unspectacular 3rd liner. Given his size/strength, defensive acumen, hockey "smarts", he'll probably still be a 4th liner or low-end 3rd liner down the road.

It's probably time to start getting him integrated in to the NHL though, and try to develop him more in to a roleplayer than seeing him a significant player in the future.

Nemisz is going to be Comeau 2.0, the guy will literally do anything asked of him, pk,pp, center, wing, play physical. He seems like a great kid on and off the ice just doesn't have alot of talent. Personally I would bring him back he has the kind of attitude that will make him an excellent locker room guy and very useful 4th liner much like Bouma.

Don't think Nemisz is in the organizations plans moving forward either. Both Feaster and Weisbrod seem to want a highly mobile team and place a high emphasis on skating ability. Nemisz might be too slow and too much of a poor skater for their tastes.

But who knows. Maybe they actually give him an opportunity and call him up before the seasons done and he manages to impress.

Actually Weisbrod & Feaster have said they place a high emphasis on things like hockey IQ, something that Nemisz has alot of. They also stated they will take players with deficiencies in skating in favour of a high hockey IQ because skating can be improved/taught.

Well then they should bring him up to the NHL to see what he can do. He looked okay in previous NHL action and its not like the Heat are going to make the playoffs anyway.

every team signs NCAA players to ATOs this time of year, they are more mature and season than CHL players usually and as a result make better fill ins during the playoffs and when there are injuries.

right handed shot, decent size and was captain of UNH who were I believe ranked in the top 10 this year. Flames staff would have gotten a good look at him if they were in attendance for the Providence playoff games against UNH.

Can't say I dislike this.

He just came back from an injury but I hope they call him up before the end of the season to get a taste of the NHL, like they did with everyone else.
