I'm not referring to the Preds fans in here who think highly of Forsberg. I think he'd go higher this year than he did last year. The Caps absolutely stole him.

What I'm referring to is the people who honestly think there are 4 or 5 players in this years draft who would go before the 1st overall pick last year.

Here's a prime example. Nail Yakupov was considered a better prospect than Nugent-Hopkins on here until both of them became Oilers.

The cycle repeats every year.

FWIW, I think the Preds have every reason to be excited about the deal to acquire Forsberg. Great move, imo.

Out of the big name high end forwards available in the top 6 or so, is Lindholm probably our best bet to get to play with forsberg??

Based on the coverage, you would think its the 2nd coming of Peter

Just wanted to say that there is no way that Forsberg would go above Lindholm, Elias is clearly a better prospect.

Well, we're about to find out how he looks in the bigs. He's starting on Nashville's 1st line, with Legwand and Beck, in their next game.

didn't look out of place at all. needs to polish his game on the expected areas. seemed to be a little lost defensively at times. offensively, i was impressed. foot speed looked fine to me. showed very good offensive awareness. strong on the puck, showed power forward attributes. shot seemed to be good, had 2 SOG. created offense... all this with today being the first day in Nashville and with the team... he's a kid at 18 so i was very impressed. im looking forward to his future in Nashville.. also keeping in mind that its 1 game and he has a long way to go before he is successful. lets see how he does in the next 5 games when he has "settled in" and is somewhat use to the NHL style of play and rink.

I was impressed by his hands, offensive awareness and his strength on his skates. He had a couple nice steals on the fore-check that generated good chances. He and Beck seemed to be on similar pages which is nice.

It was hard to believe he had flown all night, played with a new team on a different sized rink and still looked that good.

He had one play where he won the battle on the boards protected the puck and came off the boards and generated a scoring chance for his line mate. I thought he showed some of his potential. He handled in tight and saw the ice well to create that chance. That would have made the game 1-1 if I remember right. Nashville is so banged up right now hope they all get back soon.

Filip Forsberg: what's his ceiling?

Ok, so as a Nashville fan, it's no secret we are weak on the offense side of things. We have huge hopes for forsberg here to be our savior along with Colin Wilson.
Wilson is looking to be getting it but we have not seen much of forsberg.

What is the potential NHL type of player you see forsberg developing into?

Is there any reason he dropped in his draft from rated #2 to getting picked at 11? Was it just because of the good defense in the draft??

Why would Washington let him go for just erat and latta?? Maybe GMGM was desperate I don't know.

But I just wanna get some feedback on what we predator fans should expect from him in the coming years.

Thanks a lot guys!

It's mainly GMGM is a moron, who either does nothing, or does something drastic that harms the team. He will be good though, you probably have a better idea though of how he played in the NHL with his short stint at the end of the regular season. I hope he does well, we should never have gotten rid of him.

That's the thing. We have him and Wilson. We have seen lots of Wilson but barely anything of forsberg.

I don't expect him to get huge points right off the bat, but after a couple years maybe an 80 point guy?

I don't think he'll hit the 80's.

Keep in mind that not many players hit that mark, moreso when they play with an offensively inept team like Nashville

He's good enough to be the backbone of an offense. He was my favorite prospect back in the days. I would've picked him 1st.

I think 70 points... Maybe 75 points. (Which is great!)

I like Forsberg. Great prospect

I'd say 30-35 goals and 65-70 points

I think he will end up being a 30-30 guy on most years.

In his prime maybe 70 points.

He can only hope to be as good as his father

In all seriousness, I wanted the Jets to nab him so bad but as I've gotten to see and learn more about Trouba, I'm okay with us not grabbing him but I still think Washington should have held on to him. Really hope he turns out as a 1st liner for you, Nashville fans.

Who in there right mind who trade Erat for someone that some people would pick 1st overall. What the heck was he thinking?

Realistically i think he'll be a consistent 25-25 guy with the odd 60+ point season. Dont think he ever does much more than that, which is still great for an 11th pick.

In his 5 game stint in Nashville, I was really impressed with his passing and shot release. He looks like one of those players that just has that "it" factor, which is something that we haven't seen since Radulov.

I'm really hoping him and Colin Wilson just light it up together in the next couple seasons. If those two can tear it up and our defense holds true and pekka is ever strong in net, who knows what could happen....

But since poile isn't adding any further offensive help, this is just hope for the future!
