I ran into Bud yesterday at Taco Bell. I asked him if his game has evolved enough to be a defensive defenseman. He stared at me and answered, "what?" The kid doesn't seem all that bright. **** him.

He's back! I knew Bud would return to LA. Was Forsberg and/or Lindros also at this said Taco Bell? I view Forsberg as more of a Del Taco person myself...

Tonellisghost posted this in the Manchester thread today, I figured this thread might deserve a bump:

Doesn't mean anything will happen but I do believe the two sides have at least spoken. I thought DL had just written him off but it looks like we still have some sort of interest.

Holloway would be good top 6 depth for the playoffs.

Easy call.

Skeptical, but would love to see what he can do in the NHL.

Pardon my ignorance, but would he be eligible to be called up to the Kings as soon as his SEL season is over?

Yep, since he is Kings property, he can be brought up without having to go through waivers (as per new CBA rules, as we saw with the O'Reilly returning to Colorado without having to pass through waivers after he had appeared in games in the KHL this season).

the guy was thought to be better than both matt moulson and teddy purcell so whats the worst that can happen we get a guys that can play either 2nd/3rd line duties and chip in offensively.

Me too. I'm not sure what kind of league the SEL is, do they check and hit or is it just free wheeling very little contact?

Wouldn't he have to sign a contract with the Kings first though?

Also, I remember reading he re-signed with his SEL team through next year at least. Would that conflict with his ability to sign an NHL deal?

Of course, my response was with the assumption that the Kings sign Holloway and brought him over. If they assured him of a roster spot for the stretch run, I think Holloway would be interested in joining the team. Then again, all of this is all speculation as Holloway's team is still in the playoffs in Sweden.

As for him signing an extension, not sure if he has or hasn't (I think there was a report that he'd be interested in staying there), however, I'm sure that Holloway has some form of outclause like most North American players do who end up signing overseas.

Let him play with Stoll/Lewis for a bit and see what happens, or maybe even Carter/Richards...?

Interesting potential development. Thought of the possibility myself, but didn't think it was likely. Might have to ask around, see how legitimate the claim is.

You can forget the free wheeling part. There is a lot of hitting BUT there is a lot more skating room, (bigger Rinks), but on the boards there is murder every now and then.

It's there for the taking. Holloway can compete with Moller, Kozun, Toffoli, or Pearson to earn that spot out of training camp. I don't think the Kings will splurge this offseason considering the lack of quality in the UFA market and the fact that they have to re-sign some of their core players this summer.

Unfortunately, the only true LW is Pearson who's probably another year or so away, and I wouldn't even consider Kozun and Moller do to their size. And as much as I'd love to see one of our homegrown play 2LW, I think we'll sign a worthy veteran lw for cheap.

I don't wanna get on board the hype machine...but the 4th line has been really really poor the last few weeks imo.

I believe that anyone who signs a contract after the trade deadline is ineligible to play in the post-season. Marty Turco last year for Boston as an example. If that's correct, then he can't play for us in the playoffs.

Anyone know when his season in the SEL would end, at the latest? If it goes much longer there may not even be a point to him signing with us right now, as he is a UFA after the season and could field offers from all 30 teams.

Pretty sure Soderberg is going to be allowed to play for the Bruins in the playoffs, isn't he?
