Hes not going to sit anytime soon. Gunnarson would go first at this point

Mark Fraser is essentially Luke Schenn.

Imo he's better because he doesnt panic or rush the puck as much. But Schenner is still young so who knows

I think he said that about McClaren, but I'm a fan.

Guy has been good. Plays a really simple game but he's nothing more than a bottom pairing defenseman

If Schenn played as well as Fraser, people wouldn't have been comparing Schenn to Stevens, they would have been calling him Scott Stevens.

Fraser has been very solid, very happy with his play.

Fraser has been very solid. Why would you think he would sit?

I remember watching him in the AHL last year after we dealt Aulie away.

He was an intimidating force out on the ice, coming to the aid of anyone that would mess with our star prospects. Fraser and Holzer were beasting on the PK.

The only thing I can think of is he wants him on the Habs.

Fraser's been a nice surprise as a pure #6 dman, but i have to say he's started to look a bit out of place since jake and liles went back in. suddenly fraser's lack of speed is starting to stick out like a sore thumb.

that being said he's still effective in his role and won't be coming out of the lineup anytime soon.

Just thought I would share this here for those interested... a HNIC piece on Fraser's roots.

Seems like a stand-up guy.

Why are people comparing Fraser to Schenn? He's basically a tougher version of what Aulie should've been.

No doubt we won the Fraser trade but come to think of it, that Aulie trade was awful.

At the time, we had much more defensive depth then offensive. Funny how things change in two years.

I need to start checking the OP dates, read that Liles was hurt and was thinking again! when did this happen

We gave away Aulie.....we had no depth. Aulie under Carlyle would have been scary!

He's not going anywhere. Our fourth highest played defenceman as of late:

Phaneuf, Gunnar, Franson, Fraser, O'Byrne, whoever

Fraser is exactly what you want in a bottom pairing defencemen. He plays the role damn-near flawlessly and is a big part of the PK. He's not coming out of the lineup for anybody.

Phaneuf and the Fraser-Franson combo are the only constants on defence. The only questions are who plays with Phaneuf and who is on the last pairing out of Gardiner, Liles, Gunnarson and O'Byrne.

I know Reimer wouldn't be happy if he's out of the lineup, he's like his bodyguard out there, when the play stops he stands over Reimer and just looks around to see if anyone wants to cause any trouble for James. Fraser is a definite keeper, great pickup.

We have too many decent bottom 6 Dmen but no top pairing physical Dmen. I think it is time we made a trade for one. Obviously for next year.

Fraser is a decent Dman but really, on a great day he is a top4 Dman. Most of the time he fills out the bottom6 very nicely. I would not be opposed to trading him and a few prospects for top2 physical, stay at home defenceman that will pass the puck to Phanuf who will take it out of our zone.
