Depends on what Phoenix offers him, after we revisit the Gagner/Pajaarvi for Yandle trade.

This guy is so so over rated on this board. I keep hearing about how he is emerging and having a good year. Look at the numbers. He has done very little of note this year. He has ZERO hands and plays like a floating cupcake. I have no patience for a guy like this because he embodies everything that is wrong with this club. Completely mediocre players being spoken about like they are something great. How about we hold these guys to some sort of reasonable expectation for accomplishment rather than simply patting guys on the back for doing next to nothing. In five years time prv will probably starting on the second line of Malmos Swedish elite league team and the oil will be missing the playoffs under some new coach

I'd give him a 1 or 2 year deal @ 1.5-2m

Give him a chance to earn a bigger contract.

This is the rational response.

He has shown much better hands this year than I had previously ever seen. He is also going to the net consistently and is a very effective dump and chase player. At this point he would be an average 3rd liner on an average team. 1.3 per year for two years. He is developing, the same cannot be said for the rest of the team. Most players are regressing.

Gives him time to prove he is worth more on his next contract. If not the oilers are in it for 2-3 yrs at a lower end cap hit.

This. Those are realistic, and give him a chance to show he's worth more. As of now, i'm not sure we know what we've got with MPS.

1.5 is too low. That is 4th liner money, and he's shown he can play in the top 9 this season.

This has been one of the many Oiler problems. 1.5mil is 4th liner money on the Oilers.. not so much anywhere else..

If magnus gets injected with testosterone supplements, I would sign him.

Compensation for an offer sheet signed for under 3.3mil is only a 2nd round pick, under 1.6mil is a 3rd. Is he worth more than a 2nd or 3rd to other teams? Absolutely. Hopefully he wants to stay in Edmonton. Although... I'm a big fan of his and hope he could play for the Habs.

lol what? If that's 4th liner money, where are all the players who make less than that playing? I'm looking for stats but I'm pretty sure a huge chunk of the league make less than 1M.

Try for value. He is a third liner. Low risk signing him for three or more years.

One year at 1.4
Two at 1.5, 1.7
Three at 1.5, 1.75, 2
Four at 1.7, 1.9, 2.25, 2.25

Low risk.
