Agreed. reading some post ottawa interviews he puts a lot of blame on himself for not making it . although we want everyone to be a good guy and go to the minors for some player it just doesnt make sense. makes millions in rusia or thousands in the ahl.

Hoffman, Pageau, Prince, Stone, Silf, Zibby are all skilled forwards in the system now... I have no ill will towards Filatov, but he did nothing while he was here and then left for alleged money reasons... Its not like he scored a PPG and was treated unfairly...

I dont see him playing here anytime soon, if at all...

We do not know why he left. Some have said that he is the main financial supporter of his family. Making more money in Russia makes sense.

Silf and Zibby are staying.

Filatov is more skilled than Hoffman, JGP, Prince and Stone.

Wouldn't you like to see what he can do on a line of Filatov/Zib/Silf?

^What does ''skilled'' mean? Pageau, Prince and Stone will be better NHLers than Filatov could be.

Dude, the guy has KHL numbers like Daugavins. Daugavins that doesn't PK is what you get.

How exactly does slotting him in the top 9 make the Sens a better NHL team? Answer: it doesn't.

Would rather have Fatendresse.

Bigger means nothing if he doesn't use his size.

Faster means nothing if he doesn't use it effectively and is still worse offensively.

Better shot means nothing if he never shoots.

Case in point, 6 shots in 9 games last year for Tovie. Which is ridiculously low. That's like 1 period for Karlsson.

I'd like tos ee him come to camp, see if he's gotten stronger, faster, and bigger.

If so, and if he's kept his playmaking ability + shot, he'd be a legitimate prospect again. If he hasn't progressed, well doesn't cost us anything at all if he doesn't make the team and goes back to KHL.

If he came to camp though, to me it'd mean he was still committed to the Sens, who gave him another shot after he'd fallen out with Lumbus, and that maybe his departure wasn't purely for greed.

Let's keep in mind, he did ok in the AHL, before that concussion, and he's the same age at Silf, who's JUST breaking into the league. Silf has had the benifit though of being properly developed while Filly has been bouncing in leagues/teams and dealing with injuries.

To be honest, I forgot all about him. This guy went from a fairly exciting prospect to a flop in the span of about a year, there's no way he would be in the first four rounds, and even that is generous.

This is incorrect.

It gives us three very good scoring lines forcing teams to change the way they play against us.

I am okay with signing him and having him with Spezza and Michalek

It means he will not get knocked off the puck as easily and wont get pushed around. Bigger doesn't mean he has to hit people into tomorrow.

But he does use it effectively. I do not know where you get this "bad defensively" from. He is a plus in every league he plays in.

I do agree he needs to shoot more. he averages 1 shot per game.

This discussion comes up every month. It is getting tiring repeating myself.

Personally I feel he could be super effective if given the chance. You disagree. Let us leave it at that.

1) doesn't play like it
2) doesn't use it effectively
3) see #2

Filatov is all tools, no toolbox.

If he came back overseas, I'd be all for giving him a chance... I'm just not convinced he'd do much with it. Don't have a grudge against Filly, but IMO he's Alex Daigle 2.0

I prefer prospects that work their hardest to improve rather than those who spend all night on "formspring" or whatever that website was. Can recall a few times on games night that people were saying he was still posting at like 3am. Who needs to be well rested to play in the best league in the world right?

I find it hilarious how the "Filatov" subject is the most controversial on this board

What has Lehner been up to? So far this season he's posted outstanding numbers in Binghamton and played well in Ottawa. Haven't heard about him doing the same kind of stuff, but even if he did it obviously doesn't seem to stop him from being useful.

Looks worse if you are screwing around and failing to perform when it seems you have a ton of talent/potential.
