Who will be the most active come FA day?

What team will be the most active come free agency day?

My personal guess are teams that are just entering a playoff spot/ just outside and want to get back in.

Eastern Conference:
1. Jets
2. NJD
3. Philly

Western Conference:
1. CBJ
2. EDM
3. DET

Calgary, bet on it.

They have cap space now to over pay free agents and drive the market up.

I can see Columbus making a lot of noise, or at least trying to. Dont know how much noise there'll even be with this FA crop lmao

Calgary has lots of cap space and wants to try to have team that competes for the playoffs.

I hope the Leafs are not. FA sucks this offseason.

I think Edmonton's going to be pushing hard to sign quality complementary pieces to surround their young core in the hopes of finally getting back to the playoffs.

The Jets will not be major spenders until Scheifele can prove he can handle 2nd line mins at C and be productive. The core of this team will not be spent at an inflated UFA price.

Isn't Washington tight against the cap if they resign Ribeiro?

Nobody will sign there though. Players prefer to sign with teams that might make the playoffs without them, not teams that need them to compete for the playoffs. Only major overpayments will get players to Calgary this summer.

Send a message via AIM to Devils Trap
Hope NJD are. Draft well and then pickup some decent forwards (MacArthur,Horton,Weiss. Players like that) and I would be content with our team(Also bring back Zubrus and Elias, let Clarkie walk)

Senators will be after a solid top 6 winger which will probably happen through trade.

I think next year is the year they go for a cup run with it hopefully being Alfie's last year.

I would love to get Horton on the Sens.

Ottawa has alot of cap space
I see them coveting Streit, Boyes, Horton and Ryder

Cap space moreso than previous years may dictate who gets the top players. Previously, the cap always went up, creating more capspace even for teams that were tight against the cap the previous year.

Now with it going down, quite a few teams are looking for ways to shed salary, let alone take on more.

It also works in teams favors that are just over the minimum amount though. Craig MacT will be working overtime come FA day, I have no doubts. Especially after his statements to the media.

they should just face the facts and re-build. Hudler and Wideman are not going to fix any problems.

I can't see the Leafs being active at all. There's nothing out there that could really make a difference to us. Now next season...ThERE is some potential UFAs....

I don't see Winnipeg doing much. They seem content with sitting on their thumbs waiting for the young guys to develop. They definitely need to sign guys though.

It will be interesting to see if MaCtavish will do anything. Edmonton will have to drastically overpay any free agent.

I'm not sure they necessarily have to overpay dollar wise....I just can't imagine a vet or established player signing long term. Seems like they'd want to test the waters 2 years at a time to see if the management actually knows what they're doing or will the Oilers become a cautionary tale.
