The Pominville trade didn't make the Wild go on a losing streak. That started the week before when they squeaked out a couple wins they shouldn't have.

But it obviously didn't help with Koivu and Parise going into slumps. All of a sudden, they have to figure out how to play with a new winger. And the rest of the lines weren't helped at all.

Cullen going down is the main reason for this slump. Not to mention we need 4 more defensmen.

This. Cullen was/is the straw that stirs that drink on that 2nd line. Without him, that 2nd line couldn't produce and the opponents took advantage with their match-ups. Hopefully, with Cullen back and Zucker up, we can spread that scoring out among the top 3 lines.

That superficial snapshot of facts proves your point? How about the opponents during that losing streak? How about the fact Cullen was out? You don't really believe your tiny sample proves anything, do you?

I feel like Pominville is deceptively good.

He's not exceptionally skilled at anything... But he knows where to be on the ice to score points.

p.s. I still miss Larsson.

Bingo! I'm a Penguins fan but partly Wild-fan now after the trade. I've been following Pominville since the draft of 2001 and he sure is deceptive. He can also when you least expect it make a great assist from behind the net, turning around looking half goofy but quick and surely the puck lays there in the net afterwards. It's more about the situation than the performance really. Before the draft scouts said bad things about his strenght, balance, toughness and even skating for being a little guy, but look at them now.

Edit: I must say that i'm happy that he went to the Wild though, partly becouse they are in the Western and i'm having trouble rooting for more than one team in the Eastern, but aforemost all becouse of Minnesotas ties to Sweden and also i do like many players on your roster. Also team colors.

Sounds very similar to what some Wild fans around here say about MiG.

Mhm. Hopefully him being drafted much higher than 55th as Pominville was means he will be able to get into the league faster than him. In fact he seem to be well on his way. If we look back to the 2001 draft we see a lot of forwards drafted before Pommer that debuted earlier, but he has surpassed them all by now.(Except Kovalchuk and Spezza)

Stephen Wiess, oops Mikko Koivu went 6th(Not saying Pominville is better), but guys like Tuomo Ruutu, Hemsky, Derek Roy, Mike Cammalleri(Seem to have some play-off prowess though), plus a whole boatload of busts.

Edit: Me and Pommer was born the same day, that's why i've followed him while being a Pens fan.

I've always liked him, but giving up that 1st in the trade is going to sting for quite a while for me, regardless of how he performs this season and next.

As mentioned in the GMDR video on Sabres TV, he said the discussion started with the 1st and 2nd. The rest was added later.

The fact that he is PPG is making that 1st thats gone a little bit easier to forget.. Hopefully CF has some good cards up his sleeve for us to get another before the draft..

I have faith in Fletch until he gives me a good reason to NOT have faith. So far he's done a couple dumb moves, but all in all this team is drastically better, in a HUGE way than when he took over the team.

Pominville is going to be exactly what we traded for..the guy to get us over the hump and give us a chance to not only get into the playoffs but to give us more scoring depth to be able to win a series..

He is a damn good hockey player..been saying it since we acquired the guy Not sure if everyone realizes that but with time everyone will.

Thought last night was his first good game with the Wild. If he can keep that up, Wild will be able to get their playoff spot.

I wonder though, he seems to get tossed around a lot, much like Parise. He's not short but seems a little small. Granted both of these guys are tough enough to play through it, but I can't help but wonder if having him and Parise on the same line could cause problems due to lack of size?

Hard to say what the lines will look like next year.

I tend to agree that size is something that needs to be taken into account.
