He can't hear you over the fact that he has more assists than Marleau or anyone not named after a womens handbag on the team has total points.

Love how the Phoenix announcer says "He's got a hold of Oliver Ekman's Larsson"

That was a truly great freudian [Mod].

I actually feel sorry for labarbera ... he had a nightmare of a game. He tends to have them against us for some reason.

The same way Vlasic "had a hold" of Doan on that penalty call

The crazy thing about burish is how weak he is on the puck. It's like he's afraid to make a strong play or he might get a penalty or something. The amount of times he has his arms up in the air is crazy.

If anyone knows what "push hands" is, he looks like he's doing that most of the time. Dude's gotta get harder.

Dont you dare diminish the importance of that assist.

Does Niemi get the start vs LA?

Yes. No reason to play Greiss at this point.

What the heck is up with Thornton? It's like he has turned into Clowe. He has kept up with the usual turnovers trying to make a fancy play, but he doesn't seem to be doing the other things that make him great - puck possession, seeing eye passes, strong back checking, etc.

Thornton was fine last night. He had ugly turnovers but so did everyone else. He shot the puck which is a victory in itself. Better question is what the hell is wrong with Havlat?

Seems like Havlat gets a lot of good scoring chances and just cannot finish them. Feels like he is always trying to shoot 5-hole.

One play last night summed up his season..he had the puck on the boards and was doing his dangles..Couture pops open in the slot for a one timer with Marleau at the net and Marty holds the puck and then throws it out of the zone. Hes doing a lot of things right but he needs to start producing some offense.

The announcers should tone it down on the quantity of PP assists. That does not speak well to his overall game. Touting PP proficiency is not a recipe for the post-season. Not an overall knock because he is still getting first assists, but I would really like to see percentage of points 5on5 vs PP at the end of the season in comparison to previous years. It would not be a kindness for him to gain the nickname of PowerPlay Joe.

JT by and large looked un-interested..Meh game at best... Havlat must be saving himself for the playoffs, or he drinks from the same water bottle as JT

I don't think he looks uninterested. I thought the whole team was engaged last night. They were just extra horrible with the puck in the first period.

The "By the Numbers article" on FTF for the game last night indicates Thornton's line was outchanced whereas Couture's and Pavelski's lines were not. Thornton doesn't have the quality of supporting cast that Couture does and is presumably playing harder minutes than Pavelski is, but he just seems to be underperforming (at least compared to prior in the season) to my eye.

Thornton outright refuses to pick up a man who doesn't have the puck on the back-check. Even when the D clearly signal who they want him to take off the puck he skates directly to the puck carrier leaving 1 or even 2 men uncovered skating to the net. It's been glaringly bad, and has resulted in at least one goal over the last few games but only pucks bouncing over the open man's stick several times has kept that number down. They always praise his back-check, and it is good when he can chase the puck carrier down from behind, but in terms of covering an odd, or even man rush, he has been atrociously bad.
