It's the same exact thing on th north side of the lobby too. It seems like a major fire hazard if there ever was one considering how jam packed it is leaving after a game already but oh well.
I never understood why MSG never set up gates on 33rd st, 31st st, or 8th ave. If you're coming off the A train you have to walk at least 3/4ths through the block to 7th ave only to walk back towards 8th inside the garden

A long time ago... in a galaxy far far away....

One was able to enter thr Garden from the 7th Avenue councourse (where everyone enters now) along with:

1. The direct escalators from Penn Station (where the old taxi-way was)
2. Eighth Avenue and 33rd St. (Tower B)
3. Eighth Avenue and 31st St. (Tower C)

Those escalators were GREAT in getting you into Penn Station in a hurry after a game... but no more. 9/11 changed that. The Garden probably feels it isn't worth it to staff the extra entrances with security.

Cheers!

Also looks like they're finally removing the escalators connecting the Garden Lobby and Penn Station. They were boxed up when I was at Monday's game. (They were located between the lobby and Towers A or D, and brought you right down (or up) from the oval shaped Amtrak rotunda where the Amtrak Information booth is, right off the old taxiway).

Cheers!

This was in my renew email: I'm an upper corner person.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR SELECT 200 LEVEL SUBSCRIBERS: With the completion of the third and final phase of the Transformation, two spectacular new Chase Bridges will be added on the 10th floor beginning with the 2013-14 season that will provide a one-of-a-kind view of the action. Based on the placement of the bridges it is likely that some, or even all, of your view of GardenVision will be reduced from your seats in the 200 Level. However, giant state-of-the-art monitors with all of the same replay capabilities and stats that you currently enjoy will be placed on the back of the bridges providing you with the same rich in-game experience you have come to enjoy. And please note that your view of the ice will not change at all.

Now imagine people wandering around, spilling beer, doing whatever it is people do during the games, up on that bridge... might find that distracting

Awful... What an eye sore.... Not only will it be distracting to see bodies moving about so close to your field of vision, but the bridges completely ruin the view of the rest of the Garden and you can no longer appreciate the large, open ceiling....

Gecko, I answered your PM, but that seat he posted is my season ticket seat. 221, row 17, seat 20. If anyone is ever looking at tickets in section 221 never buy seat 17 in rows 16-18, huge obstruction.

They make it look as if that side wall has no affect on the view for seat 17, but I checked it out last game, and you can't see the net where the Rangers shoot in the 1st and 3rd.

They're betting that fans are not going to the game to look at anything other than the game itself, but based on the reaction around here, that is not a safe bet.

From these VR pics, looks like the LED boards are being moved to a location above the concourse suites...

Agree. Gross. And that's not even with people on the bridges. I loathe this idea.

And you're right, why redo the ceiling when it's blocked off to so many people?

If it ain't broke don't fix it. The Rangers and Dolans need to learn this, apparently in every aspect of the organization.

Hate those bridges.

Worst part is, those 'sky bridge' seats are going to be classified as 'club seats' (as far as I've read). So it's not even like they're adding those bridges to add seating capacity for your average, blue collar Rangers fans. It's just a corporate gimmick... I can just imagine the suits up there hanging out against the far plexi-glass wall talking on their phones while the game is going on....

Hey, does anyone have side-by-side photos or TV screen shots showing the old lighting on the ice versus the new?

I've been looking for a cross section view like this since forever:

Not the greatest detail but it gives you an idea (this diagram is from 1963)

Have a couple of questions regarding MSG: Have they completed work on all potential seating and suites. If yes, that leaves the bridges and capacity will be 17930 when done based on the capacity change for NBA and NHL from the redevelopment and what they said final completion would bring same old capacities. Presently there is a difference in league capacity changes (NHL 18200 - 1000 = 17200, NBA 19763 - 730 = 19033)
If no then both figures presently for NBA and NHL will rise. The reason I state this is because in 2011 on You Tube they made it clear capacities would not be affected but Rangers presently will and their fans lose out big.
Finally, are there standing room areas in MSG and do or will they allow extra ticket selling for their suites like Philly and other cities.
Ranger fans deserve a building holding 21-22000 not 18000 where ticket prices are too high, I hope to eventually attend a game there.

I believe standing room isn't allowed by the fire marshal. It takes like 20 minutes to leave MSG from the upper 200s. It's an extreme fire hazard there.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. That's what they said about Yankee Stadium and Citi Field yet they started selling standing room for all the big sold out games

They're outdoors and exiting is a trillion times easier.

I should have separated those two points.

Being outdoors means smoke wouldn't suffocate you like in MSG. It is also easier to exit those stadiums. It takes me AT LEAST 15 minutes to leave MSG (saying 20 before may have been a stretch) and there are only 17,200 people there. How long would it take to exit if there were 20,000 people there AND when there's a fire?
