Looks like there will be. Additional $750k in rent for city if NHL cones to Key Arena. These guys are serious about the NHL too.

Plus it shouldn't be that hard to change a room to be a replay booth room.

Note hansen has 80m dollar reason why to get NHL to play in Key arena. No NHL team before new arena is done that 80m is coming from his pocket.

Geoff Baker stating the creation of that RSN likely means the M's will be sold to a local owner

Interesting note on City/Hansen lease: His group will pay city $2m a year, and "additional $750,000..if a NHL team is brought to KeyArena."
This sounds like promising news.

John Stanton rumored to be main owner of the Mariners, Him and Chris Hansen are quite friendly with each other and that they might partner up with Chris Hansen to create a Super Network in the Northwest.

Wally Walker brought Hansen and Stanton together.

Like i said why would there be something for hockey in the agreement if there was no way there would be a team before the new arena is done.

The next few days/weeks are going to be interesting. I will be very disappointed if the NBA rejects Hansen.

It would be a huge issue in how the league is being run like they do not give a rip.

That would mean ~365 days of programming for the new RSN. The Mariners would represent 162 games over April to Sept (and sometimes Oct), while the NBA+NHL teams would represent a combined 163 games over Sept to May (and sometimes June).

That's very little overlap and games or multiple games on everyday -- in other words, a very compelling product offering that would provide a pretty massive revenue stream to the RSN's owners.

So lets hope Stanton is going to be the new owner of the M's and then we can have a Super Network

It certainly lends a ton of credibilty that there is an ownership group in place in Seattle that hasnt gone public yet.

The story about the NBA wanting the $30M returned to Hansen if he is rejected bothers me, if it is true.

Not only that but possible other sports (MLS, Indoor Lacrosse, WHL etc). You should always have live content.

Dont be surprised if the Sounders get added as well.

Sprint Nextel has majority control of Clearwire and will own it all by the end of the year. That's interesting because "Sprint Nextel announced in December 2011 that it reached a multi-year exclusive partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to be the league's official wireless service partner." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprint_Nextel

Chrisdaniels just reported it.

Chris Daniels ‏@ChrisDaniels5 7m
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn tells KING5 he does not believe there will be an #NBAKings vote this week based on recent convo with NBA’s Stern.

No idea whats going on but sonics fans are paniking and spinning it as that stern is going to give sacramento more time and is going to screw seattle and block the sale.

Could be nothing more than opinion from Mcginn. i do nidea.

Sounds like conjecture. Listening to the press conference it definitely sounded like a desperate act/concession speech. But obviously that has the green and gold tinted glasses.

KJ said that he hasn't heard word of a delay in vote.

Makes me wonder if this conversation from stern that Mcginn had was weeks ago.
